You're probably not going to see any more kicking generally as a result of such a change anyway, I've always thought the safety reasons got kind of specious after the goalies stopped crawling around for pucks with just their 5 o clock shadow protecting their mugs. And it's not like you have to get your foot way up in the air and really swing it since the puck is going to be on the ice most of the time.

I love that specific play too, there's no way he can get his stick on it and that move is a great (dangerous) rebound generator. The puck going in and being called back is probably the worst case result on that play and it's not a very bad one. And of course the upside is tremendous.
