Honestly, Wilson hadn't had a suspension since 2018 and has played much cleaner for quite some time.

Didn't think he deserved 7 for this hit, but certainly given his history I understand it. I would have done 3-4 myself if making the call.

Matt Cooke once went 3 years without a suspension.

But also like Matt Cooke, Wilson has had multiple plays since his last suspension that were very close to being suspendable also.

I'm not saying Wilson is quite in Cooke's category here, but he definitely hasn't been angelic this whole time.

I think that is part of the problem. Plays they determine not being suspendable and really should have been. I look back at what Cooke did to Karlsson.

Yeah, I hear ya. That's why I said I understand the 7 games. He has to know his history will follow him even if he continues to play cleaner. Such is the price and I hope he does, because he can be a hell of an effective player on the ice.
