Kevin Lowe and Doug Wilson don’t scream hall of famer to me. Especially Kevin Lowe. If this is the direction things are headed then Al Iafrate and Ulf Samuelson are next.
I can’t even start with how disappointing a class this is beyond the first two guys.

Yeah, Kevin Lowe over Daniel Alfredsson is kind of insane. I mean was Lowe ever even a top 5 player on his OWN TEAM during his career? I'd have to say no.

A bit surprised Hossa got in on his first go. Not because I don't view him as worthy but I always felt he was underrated by so many. Plus isn't he also technically being traded like every year? LOL

Better put Pat Hughes in the Hockey Hall of Fame next - Willi Lindstrom? Sure. Kevin McLelland? Why not? Lee Fogolin? Sounds good. Charlie Huddy. Do it.

What a joke Kevin Lowe going in.

good thing he doesn't have to choose a cap like baseball.

and kevin lowe.... blech
do they have a "passenger section" of the hall?

more than 40 points once in his career, and certainly not what you would call dominant on the defensive side of the game.
In his best season, that was Gretzky's 205 point year, Coffey had 126 points. Lowe was right there in the mid 40's with Huddy and Dr Randy Gregg
just sort of "there" for 1200 games.

Kevin Lowe hit double digits in goals once in his career (and it was 10 so he barely got there). This was when goalies had more holes than Swiss chesse and he played on the highest scoring team in the league. Also, he wasn't a great defender by any stretch of the imagination. Just a horrible choice.

As far as Doug Wilson is concerned, he actually won a Norris trophy (Lowe won zip) and his career goal total was 237. Kevin Lowe had 84.

I can maybe talk myself into Doug Wilson - he had the third most points among defensemen in the 80s, has a Norris, no Cup but was a big part of any runs those Hawks did make.

Lowe was fifth in Norris voting once. That was as good as he ever did. I just don’t understand this one at all.

lol. have a group chat going on with the guys I play hockey with.
one guy trying to justify Lowe, so I bring up the parallels with Huddy and Gregg (5 cups, similar points in Lowe's best year, etc).

his only response was "well, Lowe had more character than those guys"

*** close chat ***

The worst part is not necessarily that he is in (which is a travesty) it's going to be the arguments in a few years that Letang, Seabrook and Doughty should be in because Lowe is.

This didn't lower the bar. It removed the bar.

I'm typing up my arguments for Letang as we speak! :D

"Kevin Lowe? WTF?"
Vincent Damphousse

Vinny will never get in because of the steroids thing.

Pretty obvious when you look at his stats that he was juicing. Never had more than 98 PIMs in a season, then all of a sudden he hits 158 PIMs in 95-96. Roid rage is the only way to explain that kind of one season spike on the "old time hockey" meter.
