I hate the 24 team idea with a passion, the only aspect I can get behind is this part. Because the idea of the missus watching an entire series with “that jackass” Tortorella will be amusing.

Trying to figure out which way you're going with that. I see a few possibilities:
- Build one nice central artery but forget to add decent side roads
- Spend the entire budget on a serviceable-but-unspectacular on-ramp
- Blow up the bridges every few years and redo them
- Traffic is great for the first few weeks until people realize the road is there and start driving on it, promptly exposing every flaw in the road's design and construction

So there’s an 8 team lottery then?

Last three years a team has jumped into the top three with lower odds than the worst 8 teams. In all likelihood one team that was probably gonna miss the playoffs just missed out on a lottery pick to play in some bastardized tournament for a week.
