Us older folks remember how long it took to get players to wear helmets. And visors. Will players even wear masks?

Although Gudas wearing a mask would be kinda fun.

Marchand couldn't lick anyone if he was wearing a full shield.

24 team playoff format? Probably going to need at least 4 if not 6 hub sites to pull that off.

I get that expanding to 24 teams would allow teams with a legit shot in a full season, but it is also going to let it in teams that were all but eliminated.

I mean was there really any chance that Montreal, Florida or Chicago was actually getting in?

The format I read (in 31 Thoughts, I think) gave those bottom dwellers a pretty tough hill to climb to advance.
Was something like a divisional Round Robin, with "points in the bank" (I know, right?) based on standings so far.

One proposed format I saw had the Jackets playing the Isles in round 1 with the winner playing the Bruins next round.

It would be better if they just went 1 plays 12, 2 plays 11 etc, imo. re-seed every round

I'm more intrigued - for obvious reasons - about how they're going to seed the 7 teams that don't make the POs. If they're going to do a 24 team PO in order to give some accommodation to teams who were trending up and may have gotten in, would they not reasonably have to do something for the draft order too?

Presumably the bottom 7 would be automatically the top 7 picks (not counting any trades of course), but I wonder if they'll still just lottery the top 3 or somehow come up with a formula to lottery all 7.

It also jacks up previous conditional trades. "If we make the playoffs". Well, now 8 teams that wouldn't have suddenly did. I'd feel pretty ripped off.

Maybe for those, they only kick in if you're one of the last 16 teams?

If they got Blue Man Group to run the siren, would Blue Man Group have to wear masks?
