Glad there are no Devils fans on t'hoop to cry about the Wilson hit

Well, I'm not a Devils fan, but I didn't like the hit Wilson delivered. Of course, no penalty was called on the play (another surprise, incompetent officiating), so I'll be surprised if the DOPS hands down any supplemental discipline. Wilson will likely continue to run amok unabated and maybe he'll paralyze some unsuspecting player in the future and then we can reconvene.

Which part didn't you like?

It wasn't late, because if he had his blade on the ice, he literally would have blocked that dinky pass from making it out.

Didn't leave his feet. Elbow tucked in, leads with the shoulder, no head contact.

It's bad because Moore made himself vulnerable? You can even see Wilson not even looking at Moore's body position and follows the puck as he follows through with the hit.

People seem to hate the fact that Wilson is bigger and hits harder than 99% of the league.

It's bad because he drives his arm into Moore's back causing his head to bounce violently off the glass.

I don't have a problem with clean hard hits, but when you see the numbers of an opposing player along the boards, you let up in order to prevent the chance of serious injury. Yes, I recognize that players can be seriously injured on clean, hard hits as well, but that's a textbook boarding call and for some reason both zebras on the ice missed it.

The irrelevant one just undressed Wayne Simmonds. In a fight.

Jackets > Buckeyes

/When did Ohio State win 15 straight in a season? :D

It's kind of amazing how quickly it looks like that around here. I mean there is typically a noticeable change after bowl season, but still... Tickets are already getting hard to get. One of my friends just paid for Christmas by selling his 4 seats for the Rags game Saturday.

This has been quite a lot of fun. This week, my son's team was in a tournament in Akron, and after his game on Thursday (7-0 win), we all (parents included) took over part of a local restaurant. Every TV in the place was on the Jets/Jackets game and everyone was into it. Our room was a little rowdy. 20 14-16 year old hockey players and seemingly unlimited access to hot wings is a dangerous combination.

And really, who would have possibly predicted that a game between teams with double digit win streaks would include:
- The two newest expansion franchises
- Who are coached by John Tortorella and Bruce Boudreau
- Who's biggest free agent signings are Sam Gagner and Eric Staal
- And include Jared Spurgeon and Jack Johnson in their top two +/- D men

Think about that. That's fucking insane.

Looking forward to McJesus coming to town on Tuesday. I wonder if One-Punch Prout gets in against Looch.

WTF are you seeing that makes that somehow OK?

He sees nothing but numbers all the way from the faceoff dot in. That's not a case of a guy putting himself in a vulnerable position. That's a guy who's ineligible to be checked the entire way. He can wrap him up and hold him against the boards a bit, but there's no case to be made that that was a clean hit.

It's almost hard to believe this isn't photoshopped. At least, I'm assuming not, since it's on the NHL's page.

Why is he seeing numbers? Just curious.

Wilson is above the face off dot when Moore turns towards the boards to play the puck.

All the way from the face off dot he sees nothing of Moore but his numbers. That's as simple an example of a guy you can't hit as can be found.

Of course, they're also two points out of 28th, but hey onwards and upwards.
