Same question as I had for DaBoltsNIsles regarding Kessel. As far as I know, Leaf fans are largely rooting for Reimer and would love to see him win.

As someone who has watched Jeff (fuck him) Carter and Marian Gaborik hold up the cup shortly after trades, I felt it a kick in the nuts especially when you consider the consistent struggles of my team.

I guess I would feel different if Nash or Johansen won. Mostly because both should still be here and their trades point to terrible mismanagement, and both were character assassinated on the way out. I might actually like to see it, because it would put pressure on my idiot GM.

/plus, since neither of you have avatars and names that start with D, I thought YOU posted the Kessel comment :thumb:

Another trade of the minor variety:

Detroit Red Wings @DetroitRedWings
UPDATE: The #RedWings have acquired prospect Dylan Sadowy from San Jose for a third-round draft pick in 2017.

Most Leafs fans I know want Phil to win, because at this point the first rounder is late anyway, and most appreciated Kessel enough to know media driven narratives had a hand in him being moved. I think most Leafs fans would like it just to see Simmons react. I'll drive Phil to Toronto myself to see him fill the Cup with hotdogs and eat them in Steve Simmons face.

All of my Toronto friends, who are good and knowledgeable hockey fans, loved Kessel. Not that they didn't want to trade him as part of a rebuild, but they also recognized him for what he was, and didn't blame him for Toronto's failures. Most of the haters seem to be of the "call-in radio" or water-cooler type.

Exactly. I look at Dangle, who's obviously got a bit of a spotlight now with his TV/radio stuff, and his reaction. Wasn't a Kessel issue, it was a "management did nothing for six years while he was here" issue.

The mediocrity is rampant. I'm also biased because I'm watching a team chock full of talent do...whatever it is they do on the ice, hard to call it hockey. But there's like a pair of entertaining teams. Can't we all emulate Dallas? Well, not the Oduya version.

Accidentally opened up the first page, read for fun. Oh past Erin...if only you knew.

I came in here to say this though: TB may be in a bigger pickle than the Pens with goalies moving forward, should expansion drafts happen.

{Penguins/Sharks it is. Should be a good series, rooting for the Sharks but think the Penguins win.

Apparently Dustin Brown is having his C revoked. Shocking, seeing as he's probably the least talented captain in the league. I'm making that assumption blindly and I'm sure I'm wrong, but he's a garbage person, so.

That's an interesting move. I'm definitely no fan of his, but I wonder what he did to deserve being stripped.

Stopped producing offensively, probably. I mean, we've seen what the Kings will do to guys who don't age so gracefully. I'm with you though, stripping the C is always a bit odd. Going with the Sharks model apparently.

So who gets the C?

Doughty?

If I'm choosing I think I go with Kopi but who knows.

Considering the other heinous things Kings players have done with seemingly little punishment...

Maybe the coach just finally watched video of Brown playing?

Also, Captain of an NHL team means nothing in this day and age, especially in a place like LA (perhaps in crazy media centers it does). If anyone thinks that multi-millionaires with egos the size of Spain are going to knuckle under because some guy has a letter stitched on his jersey they've got another thing coming.

It's way more important to have a core group of hard-working, respected players that will make slackers feel excluded than it does to have a "great captain".

With that in mind either:

1)Brown did something really stupid and this is just symbolic, allowing the management of the Kings to retain some credibility (almost said that with a straight face), or

2)Some dumbass thought that this would shake things up and make the Kings play better immediately.
