I think it's in the best interest of all of Canada that Stamkos signs a deal now, because I think they're all about to go nuts over the guy. Or Stammer can not sign, and end up in Arizona just for shits and gigs.

Yzerman's kinda shooting himself in the foot here. If TB is in a 7 or 8 seed in the standings come the deadline (or lower), they need to trade Stamkos. It's one thing when you're at the top of your division and primed for a Cup run and keep your pending UFA superstar because even if he walks you at least got one last run out of him; it's quite another when you lose in the first round (or worse) and watch him walk for jack shit.

From what I've heard for the past 2 years, nobody knows a fucking thing when it comes to this.

If Yzerman and the Bolts were able to keep Drouin asking for a trade quiet for 2 months, and only have it leak once Drouin got pissy, I doubt anybody has the slightest idea about what's going on between Stamkos and the Bolts.

Should've mentioned that Stamkos' NTC means Yzerman doesn't have much of a say in things regardless. May have been quick to conclusions by saying he shot himself in the foot.

If Stamkos doesn't want to sign but wants to play out the string there isn't much Yzerman can do other than a statement like this.
