Edmonton Oilers @EdmontonOilers
The #Oilers have claimed defenceman Adam Clendening off waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.

In the past year, Clendening has gone from Chicago to Vancouver to Pittsburgh to Anaheim to Edmonton.

Lost somewhat in the Wideman discussion is the fact that Jonathan Toews and Alex Ovechkin have each received one game suspensions for skipping the All-Star Game.

Not gonna lie, the big media reaction this year is hilarious after the indignation that happened with Sid skipping.

On Sidney Crosby, NHL All-Star game suspensions and bad vibes

Here we see Wysh's pathetic attempt at pretending his indignation was valid last year, and his indifference (at least his lack of vitriol or true caring) valid this year.

Who says Sid is not a good leader. :)

The funny thing is, he took the heat for it, and now other stars are taking advantage on the DL. I mean, this first started with Lidstrom/Datsyuk, but the NHL took the brunt of that criticism. Drives me nuts. These guys are in the middle of the dregs of a season, get a week break to go sit on a beach. Yes, I'd do that too.

John Scott Opens Up About His Controversial All-Star Appearance

A Guy Like Me | John Scott

Link provided. Story is long, but well worth the read!

Absolutely worth the read. Maybe because I know the St Catharines GM factory he mentions :noidea: but I have changed my view 100% on this guy.

One quote really stood out to me:

"But while I don’t deserve to be an All-Star, I also don’t think I deserve to be treated like I’ve been by the league throughout this saga. I’m an NHL player — and, whatever my set of skills may be, that I’m an NHL player is no accident. I genuinely believe that when I’m on the ice, or even just the bench, I make my teammates feel safe to do what they do best."

Amen to that.

The league, the Canadiens, the Coyotes, and the Avalanche should all be ashamed of the John Scott fiasco.

While I don't disagree with the sentiment, If I remember correctly, when this started a few years back the league pointed out that refusing to play in the ASG if selected violates the standard player's contract.

Right or wrong, I think the guys are contractually obligated to play if able.

Yep. The problem isn't the NHL suspending them, the problem is the fact the ASG exists at all.
