I haven't lived in Winnipeg since '85, and I've been around the world a few times in those 30 years - I won't even visit anyplace where the police carry automatic weapons, or the army or paramilitaries patrol the streets - but I'd take Wpg over at least half the places I've visited or lived. Some places like TO-ONie Town just seemed like a bigger and harder to get around version. Numero uno on my criteria for rating a city is how quick and easy it is to get out of the city. Second would be how friendly the people are, and how likely they are to try to fleece you, or cheat you on your change. Looks like the hockey team has managed to get rid of all the hockey players that don't want to play there, anyway. See y'all in the p-offs, eh.

Comparing Toronto to Winnipeg is like comparing a new Ferrari to a 73 Datsun that has been stripped for parts. There are maybe 3 cities on this continent I would choose to live in over Toronto, and 2 of them are more for weather-related reasons than anything else.

I guess he's a better choice than Sandis Ozolinsh ever was.

Of course it would be Tallon lol.

People keep getting players off the Blackhawks thinking they're swindling them for top-tier talent. If they were top-tier talent, dontcha think the Hawks would be keeping/playing them??

Exactly. They keep the ones worth keeping and hype up the others to get a good return.

Brandon Pirri's a pretty solid player though, he's on a line with Vinny Trocheck and that line has been superb for the Panthers as of late

They might trade decent players away from time to time (Ladd and Buff are examples), but for the most part they're holding on to the good stuff.

The Isles gave up next to nothing for Nick Leddy. The only player Chicago got who might make the NHL is D Ville Pokka.

Looks like Mike Babcock will be staying with Detroit, lots of teams are going to be disappointed in not getting a shot to have Babcock as their coach.

theres a laundry list of players that Coach Q used for energy that dumb teams end up biting on ... He spots the players and plays them in specific roles and they excel (hard not to when they are surrounded by all world olympic calibre players) and then dumb teams think they can get more out of the player ... rarely turns out

but alot of scrubs made some good money thanks to Coach Q
Carcillo, Eager, Burrish ... yet to be mentioned above
