Somewhat strange call alright - shoulder caught the chin for sure, ie, as minimally a head-shot as possible. Turris had his head down for sure too, or there would've been no head, and considerably less hit. This one is purely the forcefulness call - not far away from 'if you don't pull up country'. - definitely not charging either. Any forceful hit could be construed as' intent to injure' - Don Cherry's right --guys are taking liberties with keeping their heads up mid-ice, as well as turning their backs when a player is approaching near the boards. It is purely 'stuff for dummies' to be sure. Can't wait for the no-hit, no-fight kids to make The Bigs. The player turnover rate is going up and up and up. A systemic lack of respect for others has become endemic in and outside of sports.

He was. For an offer sheet this summer.

I think it's a big step forward for MacT. Not only did he recognize that he needs a center, he was also able to identify a very good one.

It's like he has been told what hockey is.

I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in Jarmo's office when that call came in.

Honestly, if Columbus could get Edmonton's next there's first rounders, I think that would be a golden deal. Columbus could draft both McDavid AND Eichel AND get great players for the next two years as well. Missed opportunity methinks.

I'm saying if CBJ could convince Edmonton to part with that, it would be a no-brainer.

Johansen is a star, unquestionably. But the chance to have two of the best centre prospects in years on your team, plus two further first round picks trumps that. That's Lindros trade territory.
