Jarmo and JD need to grab the entire coaching and training staff by the scruffs of their necks and drag them into a room and let them fight it out until someone can produce a credible explanation.

One can be expected. Maybe two. Three if a freakish run of bad luck.

EIGHT? Somebody is doing something wrong.

It's supposed to. But players who cannot play through their own fault are also supposed to count against the cap.

It depends on what the specific cause is, but for that...I'm thinking sports hernia? Or something similar at the very least. The cause of such things by the book: powerful, twisting motions; overuse of upper thigh/lower abdominal muscles. Basically a tear in the lower abdominals and upper groin. The basic MOI is...well...hockey stuff. My guess is it's overuse, excessive twisting/sprint skating. However, I'd think after maybe three I'd sit back and say "time for a preventative program!" And that's why you have a strength and conditioning team. I highly doubt there's anything the coaches are doing in practice in Columbus that is far from the norm in any other city in the NHL, so it comes down to preventative programs. Any other abdominal surgery one would have would probably be a similar cause anyway. It's not too uncommon in hockey, but again, preventative programs exist.

@Rich_Hammond: Dean Lombardi would not comment on whether Slava Voynov’s NHL status has changed. Oh boy.

Sooooo...he wasn't supposed to be out there?

I'm sure the NHL will be swift and decisive with their punishment for violating salary cap rules.

Wait, why are you all laughing?

Stop laughing!

STOP IT!!!

The Voynov incident:

Lombadri said that was an optional skate, not a practice. Which somehow makes it okay?

EDIT:

There ya go.

@JKTHN
Kings fined $100K by NHL for allowing Slava Voynov to skate with teammates today.

And there's that. Geez.

Combined 90 years with no Cup.

If they were a single franchise, they'd almost make the Leafs look respectable. Almost.

Ahem, it hasn't actually been 90 years. It's just been a combined 90 years since they announced that they would get franchises.

It's only a combined 84 (and counting) years.

/Yes, I did refuse to count the lockout year. It makes me feel slightly less bad.

Nothing wrong with a few accounting errors here and there. I wasn't alive for most of it so I pretend the Ballard years never happened sometimes.

Jackets reach out to Foligno's agent about extension.

Dangit, he's one I was hoping they'd trade. Not that they'd likely trade in division with a guy like him...but a girl can dream.

Not unexpected, Bortuzzo gets called to the Principal's office.

He was due to be UFA at season's end, but they aren't going to let him get away.

He pretty much IS the franchise at this point. Him, Joey, Wiz and Hartnell are the only ones who have consistently shown up every game.

It's a phone hearing, and it seems the issue is with the timing of the hit not the point of contact. I've seen a lot of opinions on it. It wasn't clean because of the timing of it (no idea how it wasn't 2 for interference...refs said no one saw it), but some are saying it's an elbow to the head...which I absolutely can't see after watching a few dozen times. When I see it, I see shoulder to chest and the head snap back, but I'm biased, so *shrugs*.

It was more my thought process of them cutting their losses on the year as the injuries pile up and trying to gain assets, which was a stretch in his case. Unless he wants out, rational me doesn't see a trade.

Pretty much the same contact that Jack Johnson got three games for.

But also pretty much the same that Gryba got zero for...

Wheel......of.......JUSTTTTTIIIIICEEE!

EDIT: And in re-watching those two...the only difference (which really wasn't mentioned in the suspension video for JJ anyway) is Johnson's is more of the blindside variety. Still, all similar.

Right now there are 4 Canadian teams in playoff spots and 1 tied for 5th, not bad at all, great to see the Flames playing some great hockey once again.
