two issues with cooperalls.

- the actual padding had a LOT of gaps.
- if you fell, you slid for miles. If you slid to block a shot, you really had to watch your speed or you'd zip right by (or have your head in the way)

Weren't they hot as well?

/Disclaimer - Never wore them, just heard that from guys that did.

Yup. I thought they looked so cool. Then I played with them for a couple of seasons.

i don't recall them being hot. that was a lot of years ago, though.
just mainly recall the bruises from taking shots right beside the padding.

Some of these posts are making me want to petition to officially rename Cooperalls to Hockey Hot Pants.

I was a kid when I wore them and thin as a rail, so that was never an issue for me. I DO remember one guy on my team who was heavier complaining about them, now that you mention it.

then they came out with the shorter shell, so you wore regular hockey socks over your shin pads again.
and then it kind of lost the plot. why not just wear regular gear?

I see that some people are still going on about Dustin Brown getting a statue, but let me just say that I have less problems with the Kings doing this than I did about the Avalanche putting Ray Bourque's jersey in the rafters.

Yah kings can do what they want plus its good for the kids out there who can visit statue row at *arena to be renamed soon* and play the “which one doesn’t belong” game
