Well that ending sucked. Hopefully that point doesn't come back to haunt the Penguins down the line.
Tonight, Johnny Hockey returns to Calgary. And there is much hand wringing among certain pockets of Jackets Fandom about how he is going to be received. Yes, the fanbase that has booed Rick Nash, Sergei Bobrovsky, Seth Jones and Artemi Panarin and actively threatened the family of Elvis Merzlikins is worried that Calgary fans may still be hurt and get mean.
I expect Erik Gudbranson to get a share of boos too, but that will be from any Jackets fans who happen to be in Calgary. He'll get a nice video tribute and a big round of applause followed by loud boos every time he touches the puck post tribute. You can be upset about how things ended in Calgary, but he provided fans with lots of great highlights during his tenure with the Flames.
Dude left to join one of the shittiest franchises in pro sports and will not be seeing any success this season and probably longer. He'll get a nice video tribute and a big round of applause followed by loud boos every time he touches the puck post tribute. On a pure spite point the Flames fans can probably feel good but I don't think Johnny really gives a shit (which may have been the problem to begin with ).
They need a goalscorer like Johnny Gaudreau who isn't Johnny Gaudreau. Easy peasy. The most important thing is getting the two points - As far as Johnny is concerned, while I don't think he was the problem, I also don't think he was part of the solution as far as going far in the playoffs is concerned. Even though it's not showing currently in the standings, this Flames team to me looks like a better built playoff team than the one that made the playoffs last season. Now they just have to make the playoffs lol
