Oh boy…
Oh joy can’t wait for whatever is going to happen.
Oh boy…
What I had read was that rantanen wasn't budging from his 8*$14M ask, and Avs realised that they couldn't do it.Not sure where Strickland is getting his info, but everything else I have seen is that Rantanen and Avs had been heavily involved in extension talks and both sides were willing to talk in-season it was just that Colorado realized it couldn't get there and risked losing him for nothing.
Maybe the timing of it was a surprise but it doesn't sound like Rantanen should have been surprised they couldn't make it work.
I remember thinking that missing Provorov would hurt and also being kinda annoyed we passed on Rantanen.
Even retaining I don’t think anybody was giving them a 2nd for Hall even retained is my logic - I just don’t see value in him today. They may have gotten a 4th. So a 3rd and they’re just retaining on a different player seems fair IMO.My thinking was if they had just directly retained on Hall which would have been just about the same money that probably could have netted a second. Instead, they got involved to facilitate a division rival's move and got less.
I've just never seen anyone weaponize cap space against themselves.
That 1st round as a whole was very good. Well except the Bruins.
Shocked I tell you... shocked.
Ozzie Smith liked that.
The judges would have also accepted Brooks RobinsonOzzie Smith liked that.
So the question is was he willing to take less than the 14m it's been reported he wanted to stay in Colorado or is 14m what he believes is below his market value?
Over 8 years that’s $4 mil so hardly insignificant.I am guessing both are true. Also, his definition of significant is unknown. It may mean $500,000 to him.
