Cant disagree with much here. Boggs will be retained with all the injuries on the O-line. I think GG goes to the practice squad and Moore is cut. We roll with 2 QBs this year. Hunt may be kept and Webster sent back to the PS as well. Hunt has amazing physical prowess. Webster has been a disappointment so far.

Nothing set in stone. 2 games left so plenty of time for change.

Would also prefer if they kept Hunt he could be a good relief pass rusher like Willie Young or George Johnson were.

OG4:

I wouldn't have initially thought we'd keep 4 interior o-linemen, but Boggs may have made himself impossible to cut. I'd heard nothing but good things about his play in camp, and then he parlayed that success into two vry solid preseason games so far.

At this point I'd keep him over Corey Robinson all day, every day. He's still pretty young at 28 years old, so he could be a long-term solution for us as a reserve interior lineman. He'd still be behind Ramirez, but between those two guys we'd have outstanding depth at guard/center...

DE5:

Now here's a fucking battle!

2014 4th round pick Larry Webster would seem to be the leading candidate based on draft status and massive potential with his athletic abilities and size. However, he's had a very poor camp, so keeping him would definitely be a move for the future, not the now.

Corey Wootton is a favorite of mine. He's a versatile reserve lineman with great size and length who had a very productive couple of seasons for Chicago as a rotational player. He can play DE and DT and is a force against the run setting the edge at DE. He's simply better than Webster right now.

The other guy in the mix is Phillip Hunt, who has also had a very strong camp. He's a bit smaller, but possesses a good pass rush skill set and could contribute on passing downs as a rotational guy.

Overall I'd be afraid of exposing Webster to waivers, but if we could get him on the practice squad and keep Wootton on the active roster I think that would be the best case scenario on this one.

I know it's too late for this season, but it looks like our biggest holes are at DT, MLB, CB2 and S. Gonna need a A+ off season next year and add some youth to this defense.

I feel Zenner, Hunt, and Cudjo have played their way to roster spots.

Boggs has been decent and may have done the same.

Ross might be safe.... Dagnabbit, I don't mind him at WR. I just hate him as a return guy.

I think you need to volunteer to coach with a Pop Warner team so you can start from the beginning and learn some basics.

I think your last few posts show that you're basically at that level of understanding what you're watching out there.

I'll put it this way regarding ZZ. Should Mayhew and his lower level clan NOT choose ZZ as one of the 53, then you can formally and finally confirm his failure in knowledge as a GM on who to keep and NOT keep is absolutely mind boggling and worthy of an immediate firing.

no sarcasm here on this post of mine.

DT5:

This is another interesting spot. I didn't think we'd keep 5 DTs on the initial 53 man roster, but I don't see how we can cut Jermelle Cudjo at this point. He's been on fire through camp and through the preseason, and he's been perhaps our best DT through this summer. I think he makes the team, I'm just not sure where we sacrifice a roster spot somewhere else...

LB6:

This should be an interesting decision. Levy, Tulloch, Whitehead, Bynes, and Van Noy all have roster spots locked up. That leaves only one likely spot open at the position. The likely candidate, imo, has to be Travis Lewis, given his overall experience and key special teams play.

However, the coaches are apparently pretty high on Brandon Copeland, they like they he can play with a hand in the dirt or standing up, so he's got a shot. Julian Stanford is also a special teams ace, so he's got an outside chance at making the roster.

There's also the possibility of Van Noy going on short-term IR, thus opening a spot for Copeland or Stanford...

CB5, CB6:

I think the CB battle has pretty well sorted itself out through the preseason.

Slay and Mathis will start on the outside. Wilson looks like the starter in the nickel. Lawson looks to be the dimeback as well as the primary back up to both outside spots and the nickel. Diggs is slot CB reserve, and Carter is bringing up the last spot as a developmental guy on the outside.

There could still be some surprises, I suppose, as Crezdon Butler and R.J. Stanford have both had decent camps, but I really don't see any surprises in this one.

Only move I could really see is picking up a surprise veteran cut by another team to build our depth up a bit...

Safety 5:

I'm not sure we'll keep a 5th safety, especially with the top 2 targets (imo) for the 5th spot both having practice squad eligibility.

Quinn and Ihedigbo are both locked-in as starters. IAQ is the primary back-up to both, and Carey would appear to have the 4th spot locked up. The coaches seem to like Isiah Johnson a lot, and if we keep a 5th I'd think ti would be him. Brian Suite is also a name to keep an eye on.

In the end, though, I'd bet we roll with 4 safeties to start the season with both Johnson and Suite claiming practice squad spots...

KR/PR:

Another battle that looks to have sorted itself out over the last couple of weeks.

It would appear that the incumbent Ross will retain his kicking specialist spot. The only guy I see being a major challenge is T.J. Jones, who should land on the practice squad and get a chance to keep pushing Ross all year for those return spots.

I think Abdullah will also keep getting some work in the return game, and I also think we'll see some Golden Taters returning punts in key situations this year.

We were targeting a return specialist this year (reportedly were really high on Tyler Lockett), so I wouldn't expect Mayhew to stop looking to improve the position. Watch for roster cuts on other teams with return experience. RB Kenjon Barner of the Eagles and RB Jared Haynes of the 49ers have both been making noise in the return game this spring and both are on the bubble of their respective rosters. I'd think both guys make it at this point based on their play, but I'd snap up either if they get released.

Honestly I'd try to put together some kind of package involving any of Ryan Broyles, Kellen Moore, Joique Bell, and/or a lower round pick to try to snag one of those two while the getting is good...

Yep, teams never trade fringe players for other fringe players. Or particularly never trade a RB4 for a RB2.

But then again you love to hate the Lions more than anyone else out there, so our players are automatically worth about 50% less in your eyes.

Maybe some day you'll stop fighting the shame and just embrace the Bears fan you really are...

It's called being an intelligent person and fan. No one is trading for those guys, especially as a package. You've lost your mind.
