This is an interesting article as Shatel claims Lee will start based off of a "sources-tell-me" approach. What I find very interesting though is that he does not even mention Green's name in this article.....he simply says Martinez will be nipping right at Lee's heels....

Martinez won’t start, but he’ll get time

One week before Game Week and some semblance of a depth chart: Here’s a sources-tell-me, no-access, best guess of how the Nebraska quarterback race will fall:

Zac Lee will be the starter. It’s almost impossible to win a starting quarterback job in three weeks of fall camp, especially for a newbie such as Taylor Martinez. Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson will lean on the experience of Lee, who also is throwing well, looks confident and acts like a leader. But Martinez will play, and he has looked good enough that he’ll be nipping at Lee’s heels and keep the senior inspired to stay sharp — if necessary. The big game for Lee will be Sept. 18 at Washington. That will be sort of a hump game for Lee. Any slippage, and there will be enough time to get someone else ready by Oct. 7 at Kansas State.

This is just kinda weird to me........if Martinez really is playing that good, maybe Green is looking elsewhere....I sure hope not, but can't blame a guy I guess

I agree HH, conference play is gut-check time. I just can't see Martinez driving on a Big 12 defense, but it would be great if I was wrong.

Like it always goes...Everyone loves the backup QB....Martinez is the new Cody Green...Stud in the spring game and he gains all the hype...Green was a stud until everyone realized the poor KID was true Freshman going against Big 12 defenses....C'mon...

I will say this though, we have seen the best we will see from Lee..He will not improve much as you can't teach old dogs new tricks, but Green and Martinez will continue to grow and improve and we haven't seen all that they can do...Green will be a year older and wiser and more mature...If he can get any type of accuracy to his throws he could be one hell of a QB.

well with this world herald report, its kinda making my rumor sound like it could be true! if Martinez is truly looking to be the #2 guy, maybe green is looking to transfer, but who knows, this report could be a bunch of b.s. or could b spot on.

I don't think it's a rumor. The more I hear is that Martinez might be # 1 and Lee # 2. Green isn't even close according to my sources. My sources tell me that Martinez is on a different level than everyone right now with his managing of the offense, running, and even throwing. They said he doesn't have the arm power but doesn't need it for what they want to do with the offense.

I'll tell you guys what......I have real sources, and I haven't wanted to say anything because I don't want to spread rumors over a message board, but I've heard information pretty close to what that dude just said.....

My sources actually told me back when Callahan was here that Bo Pelini was going to be hired and that he was going to hire his brother (I had no idea who that even was at the time....of course it was Carl), that he was going to bring his buddy Mike Ekeler from LSU to work with the Linebackers, and Sanders would be secondary coach.

All of that information was right on the money.

My sources get information because they are rich, and they are boosters

Of course this is a different situation this time......I get the feeling that they are making assumptions based off of the information that's spreading around the stadium.

When the Callahan thing was going on, the boosters got that information because it was their money that was being used to make Callahan go away

Yea it's been kinda weird lately........it seems like the spotlight is pretty much directly on Martinez.

All I hear anymore is how he is seems to be taking control in practice and in the huddle and how he's getting more accurate throwing the ball.

I honestly don't know what to expect anymore
