I like the idea of Scott Frost being on our staff

he is on staff at oregon which runs a similar o to us right now
bring him in, give him a raise
he played in the NFL as a safety
was a great college QB
its a monster when it comes to work outs, just watch the blunt video from last year again, frost is the guy that bear hugs blunt picks him up and carries him away

If they saw that last game it definitely is not Watson they're after.

I personally hope that nobody leaves..........I have rewatched the Texas game (I know, I know.....not an easy thing to do), and the poor play on offense has very little to do with Watson's playcalling.

I know it has been brought up by several people that we shouldn't have "run the zone-read right up the middle." I think some people don't quite understand what the zone-read is.........there is no "zone-read up the middle" or "zone-read to the outside".........the QB makes the decision on the fly. Where the ball goes is all on the QB's shoulders, and then whoever is carrying the ball has the decision to cut up field where ever they feel it is best.......they don't go into the play with a particular gap in mind. It's not like running a 22 Dive.

The QB reads the Defensive End and looks for any openings or closings that will effect the play. He then has to decide whether to pull it or hand it off. Martinez didn't do a great job of reading that against Texas.

I may have a different outlook on things right now than other people, but in reality I think Watson's offense is going to explode as Martinez gets more of this under his belt. He's a freshman, and running any option offense takes experience, patience, and maturity.

It seems really unlikely that they would be interviewing for a job during a game week.

I agree with this thread. I also think if we would have caught some balls, then Texas would have had to cut down on the 9 they had in the box. They had someone spying the quarterback and running back at all times.

LOL. If their AD wasted a plane flight to Lincoln to talk to Bo Pelini, the University of Minnesota might as well go ahead and fire him.

Carl isn't ready for a head coaching job. He's only been a college coach for about 6 years not counting his graduate assistant years. He has no NFL coaching experience as Bo had and before college he coached high school ball. He eventually will be a college head coach but I feel he needs about 3-4 more years.

Watson on the other hand is ripe for a head coaching job. In fact, I may call Minnesota and tell him what a good catch he would be for any Division I school. I also may start 'leaking' information to the journal star that other schools are sniffing around Watson to force Minnesota's hand. :)

I am definitely not going to lose any sleep if we would lose Watson, that is for sure. I just would like to hang on to him to see what this offense can become over the next couple of years.

ESPN rumor page said it was Wats

Zach Johnson of GopherIllustrated.com tweeted on Wednesday that Minnesota's school plane was in Lincoln, Neb., leading Marcus Fuller of the St. Paul Pioneer Press to speculate that the Gophers could be interested in Nebraska offensive coordinator Shawn Watson.

I would venture to say that this whole story holds no water!

I believe the plane was not even a plane that the University uses!

Just my opinion!

Rumor is Irule's dad ran out to the tarmac and slapped that gophers decal on that plane. He later pissed his pants in the hanger he was laughing so hard.
