So I have been talking to many Husker fans this week and most are not going to watch the game.
I am a gluten for punishment. I try and tell myself i wont watch... but i am only lying to myself... and if i were to not watch i would listen on the radio

No it hasn't. I still have time to mow the grass en sech.
Mow? its been too cold for the grass to even grow an inch over the past week though i did mow it the day before it began raining for that very reason (that and over seeding)

If the Ancient Aliens can help Nebraska, I'll predict Nebraska will win 31-27 in spite of Riley, Cav, and Langsbooby.

alright, i just had to write this down. Here is what i'm thinking. I've done a lot of reading of posts, threads, articles.

I'm tired of hearing talent comparisons. But i'm also tired of hearing it's up to snuff just because Bo's average recruiting ranking is right there with MRs. Bo had a ton of guys that transferred out or never arrived on campus, so i don't think his rankings are actually as good as they were. Is it even possible to redo the ranking based on who is left? (i did it below.) If his recruiting was so good, why do we have so many damn walk-on juniors/seniors playing as opposed to scholarship juniors/seniors?

imo - our biggest problem is the play of the offense. D wasn't great against Wiscy, but if the O stays on the field longer and doesn't spot the other team points it wouldn't have been as bad. Now, if i had to trace the offensive problem to something, my mind goes to coaching style. I'm not there to watch practices, but from what I have heard, I'm just not sure kids respond well to the way Cav is coaching the o-line and the lack of accountability for mistakes. it sounds like practices are just too light, focusing on technique and not running it full speed/contact to really test these guys. So, all that offseason work when they should be going full speed/contact and really developing just isn't happening. That is where I see the slow start to the season really originating, that crappy o-line play and not being pushed hard enough in the offseason. Then the lack of accountability, where they make those mistakes and don't get yanked. there's just not enough fire there that they need to be perfect on the play, because there is no punishment. guys should be fighting for jobs, not just in practice but in games. i read it somewhere (maybe it was here), but look at our D and RBs, look how much better they look because they are fighting every day to get their plays perfect so they are the ones that get to remain on the field. WR seems to have the same lack of accountability on the dropped balls. i know we have depth issues, but the dropped balls really hurt this team.

that imo is what should decide if MR stays or not. whether or not he can change that mentality on the offense or not. I feel like the defense is making strides and needs the young pups to get older and better, but this offense needs a serious attitude adjustment.

2013 class:
Marcus Newby - 4* - starter
Adam Taylor - 4* - RS, still on team, not sniffing depth chart
David Knevel - 4* - Started at RT, but replaced by Freshman
Dwayne Johnson - 3* - RS, still on team, not sniffing depth chart
Zach Hannon - 3* - RS, still on team, not sniffing depth chart
A.J. Natter - 3* - RS, still on team, not sniffing depth chart
Boaz Joseph - 3* - RS, still on team, not sniffing depth chart

2014 class:
D.J. Foster - 4* - Starter
Tanner Farmer - 4* - starter
Zack Darlington - 4* - Not on WR depth chart
Freedom Akinmoladun - 3* - starter
Luke Gifford - 3* - Starter
Josh Kalu - 3* - Starter
Demornay Pierson-El - 3* - Starter
Peyton Newell - 3* - 3rd string NT
Nick Gates - 3* - Starter
Drew Brown - 3* - Starter
Mikale Wilbon - 3* - starter / shared snaps
Mick Stoltenberg - 3* - starter
Sedrick King - 3* - starter
Chris Jones - 3* - starter

Here is where the Depth issue comes in, imo. I don't know how many kids usually leave a team, but the # of 2013 guys that are still playing elsewhere, could be RS Seniors here at NU and maybe contributing or at least have provided more competition.

2013 class:
Johnny Stanton - 4* - transferred UNLV
Courtney Love - 4* - transferred, starting LB at KY
D.J. Singleton - 4*- left team - went to Northern Iowa, can't find much else
Greg Hart- 3* - RS, transferred to KY, 1TD, 55yds in career
Matt Finnin - 3* - left team
Kevin Gladney- 3* - RS, 2nd string at Akron
Dimarya Mixon - 3* - didn't clear academics - ended up at Tennessee and now Starter at SMU.
Ernest Suttles - 3* - kicked off team for assault, 2nd string at Memphis with 2 sacks in 2017
Drake Martinez- 2* - RS, left team, got to MSU, but left there too
Gabriel Miller - LS - left team due to injury
Tre'vell Dixon - 4*- never made it to campus due to grades, can't find any info on him

2014 class:
Monte Harrison - 4* - played baseball
Joe Keels - 3* - transferred to Buffalo - not on depth chart
Trai Mosley - 3* - transferred to Central Arkansas - not on depth chart
Robert Lockhart - 3* - JC that never made it to NU
Jariah Tolbert - 3* - Went JUCO and ended up at Southeastern Louisiana
Larenzo Stewart - 3* - went JUCO, I can't find anything else on him
A.J. Bush - 3* - left - at Virginia Tech - backup QB
Byerson Cockrell - 3* - JC - ran out of eligibility
Jaevon Walton - 3* - went JUCO - no other news
Glenn Irons - 3* - went to Northerwestern State after RS year at NU
DeAndre Wills - NR - left - can't find anything else

2013 guys that ran out of eligibility:
Randy Gregory - 4* - JC - wouldn't be on 2017 team
Josh Banderas - 4* - didn't RS, used eligibility
Terrell Newby II - 4* - didn't RS, used eligibility
Maliek Collins - 3* - didn't RS, used eligibility
Nathan Gerry - 3* - didn't RS, used eligibility
Chongo Kondolo - 3* - JC - no eligilibty left
Cethan Carter - 3* - didn't RS, used eligibility
Kevin Maurice - 3* - didn't RS, used eligibility

we had more Bo's juniors than i realized. my memory for when kids were recruited isn't that good.

but it does kinda bring in this chart:

People who follow recruiting should fully know the extreme difference in recruiting between this staff and the previous one. The last few years especially of Bo’s riegn were awful, more than the regular awful years. The misses at key positions are still affecting us 3 and 4 years on now, OL DL LB QB, OLB in particular is maddening how bad we are there omg

Ok so the question is how do we get the passion in the new guys when the "leaders" don't have it. As long as they start than the cancer continues to spread. Cav needs to go and because of the drops I am wondering if Williams is better at tweeting than receiving.
Hate to say that because I love his own fire. Perhaps the dui took away some of his authority and he just became one of the guys but has some good ideas to the players?
That one I'm just letting my mind run loose but Stanley would be a star on this team if he was consistant. He definitely has not reached potential... that's coaching.

Talent aside I’m still putting 80% of the blame on the coaches. With Williams the wr room in general is real thin, The Kid Stan leads the Big even with all of his drops, KW will get it fixed.

i certainly liked what i heard this past week from KW about the drops and what they were doing to fix it. of course the drops have been happening all season and i'm not sure why he didn't start doing those drills week 1.

but Cav, there just isn't an excuse. the line has played like crap 3 years in a row. TA hid a ton of it the last two years, the option and being able to escape pressure with his feet. the running game hasn't been good, i don't blame the backs for that, i blame the o-line coach. look at wiscy, they can stick an unheralded freshmen recruit in their back field and he gets yards, why? because their offensive line is good at blocking.

Urbs will run it up for CFP style points. They have that early loss to Oklahoma.
I don't think running the score up will matter imo. Ohio State needs to win out whether the games are close or blowouts. The game against PSU the following week is the game most of us are focused on, which worries me a bit. I know Nebraska is down, but so was MSU last year and we barely came out of that.

Just listened to almsot 2 hours of how they will "play" urbs is going to try and run up the score and we are going to try and prevent looking absolutely pitiful (try being key word) it is amazing how year 3 we are already talking new coach before the end of the season even happens..... if we play a perfect game, we will give tOSU a run for their money, if we play with fire and lightning we will play close, if we play with stale farts and skunk beer well you get what you get...

It just seems that every team shows up with there A game when the Buckeyes are in town.. Any other week you are thinking wtf happened to this team one week and yet looked great against the top team? I think OSU wins, but I think it will be much closer than what everyone else thinks. Like I said, these are college kids and they may be focused on PSU. Urbs won't let that happen, but it still has to be in the back of your mind.

All depends on who shows up. I honestly picked Ohio St to whoop Nebraska in usuck pickems. I see misery happening.... like 59-0 bad...

Really? I have them high on my pick ems as well, but I must be missing something here. I always thought Nebraska was always a tough hostile environment to play on the road, and a night game to add to that.
