Not only that, but they were hoping to get a late commitment from both Roquan Smith (who signed a financial agreement with Georgia, but not an LOI) on Friday and were hoping Mike Weber would get out of his LOI with tOSU and come up there.

That would make them 7 over.

That would have been absolutely Sabanesque!

tsk, tsk, tsk!

Don't you mean Meyeresque?

They should do anything they can that resembles "Sabanesque" at this point. They might actually become slightly relevant sooner than later.

"NCAA Bylaw 15.5.6.1 limits FBS football programs to a total number of scholarships to 85 "counters" annually including 25 scholarships for "initial counters." Counters (NCAA Bylaw 15.02.3) are individuals who are receiving institutional financial aid that is countable against the aid limitations in a sport, initial counters (NCAA Bylaw 15.02.3.1) are individuals who are receiving countable financial aid in a sport for the first time. Bylaw 13.9.2.3 limits schools to signing 28 NLI from initial signing day through May 31."

That rule is not the 3 over rule that the Big10 has. The fact I gave you dates and the history of the rule in the Big10 should have been your clue.

Yes, 85 players by August is correct. But, the additional 3 players allowed ON SIGNING DAY is expressly for the attrition you mention. I know this is a foreign concept to an Alabama fan whose coach regularly skirts this rule.

It's a Big10 rule you dipshit.

We aren't skirting shit, our conference just hasn't been stupid and passing rules for the appearance of moral highground.

We follow the NCAA rules, the one you list. Which says nothing of existing scholarships and is only a limit on the number of people you can sign in an individual year.

That's 25 plus 3--IF and only IF a team has space on its roster ON SIGNING DAY.

It doesn't say that, with the NCAA all that matters is you have 85 by August.

Normally I'm having to hear about how the Big10 is the best for oversigning because of it's rules beyond the NCAA, and now with you I'm having to explain that the rule is a Big10 rule.

And then with most Michigan fans will talk about how Harbaugh only had limited time and will have a full class next year, and you want to act like it wasn't a matter of limited time(even after others have demonstrated the limit didn't stop him from trying to get many more).

Get it together Tyrone.

. . . on signing day.

Actually, "signing day" has nothing to do with it. National Signing Day is only the 1st day when a recruit can sign their LOI. The signing period being mentioned lasts until the end of May.

So you can't try and pretend like the other recruiting is ok because it was "after signing day".

You can get exceptions for losses in previous seasons and stuff.

In the case of Tennessee, I'm told by someone in their AD that Dooley and staff didn't do anything towards recruiting their final year because it was obvious they were all getting fired. I'm guessing that has something to do with it, but I don't know specifics.

Why am I not surprised, a shady coach for a shady program. I guess they prove they old adage true, "if you can't win, cheat."

Dirty coach who follows the rules or Michigan coach who covers up r*pe? Hmmm I will go for following the rules.
