Ottawa names Daniel Alfredsson the Sens captain... in 1999.

Only 5 current captains in the NHL had played a game in the NHL at that point. Anyone want to take a shot at naming them?

I hope the captain stays for one more year after this one.

Devils coach Pete DeBoer announced after today’s practice that defenseman Bryce Salvador has been named captain.

Patrik Elias and Iyla Kovalchuk remain the alternate captains.

Salvador takes over the C from Zach Parise, who signed with Minnesota as unrestricted free agent last summer.
