Nebraska may be 0-6 but the recruiting game don't matter. One thing that coaches can definitely sell, especially on defense, is playing time as an opportunity to the more talented individuals out there. Who do they have coming in? Let's have a look:
Noa Pola-Gates (4-Star, CB) [Gilbert, AZ] - Nebraska needs corners in a bad way and Gates fits the bill. He could also play safety but Nebraska wouldn't mind bringing him in as a corner first. Gates is a top commodity out there and has all the top programs going after him including Alabama, Penn State, USC and many more. He's already visited Bama and PSU so Nebraska getting him in still while they are 0-6 is a huge coup in and of itself. Gates would likely play safety at Bama... could the prospect of being given a shot at CB be enough to make him seriously consider Nebraska? Hard to tell, but getting him on campus is huge.
Darien Chase (4-Star, ATH) [Vancouver, WA] - Chase has some family that went to Nebraska but he's not quite a legacy recruit. The 4-star Athlete is hard to place in a position at the next level so many teams have others higher on their board. Nebraska likes his athleticism and versatility, especially on offense. PAC-12 teams are also in on him, both Oregon and Washington have offered, though he has yet to visit. Nebraska would LOVE to nab the versatile athlete.
Jamie Nance (3-Star, ATH) [Blanchard, OK] - Nance is a current Nebraska commit and sees himself being able to play early in this offense. Getting him around Chase could help entice him to give the Huskers a real look.
Tavian Mayo (3-Star, CB) [Leesburg, GA] - Nebraska continues to try to get into Georgia with Mayo giving Nebraska a look this weekend. Maybe has some lower level Power 5 offers but Duke and Iowa State have a pretty good track record with evaluating talent. Mayo would have the green light if he wanted on board.
That's all I have for the moment... Nebraska would like to get all three of the uncommitted guys on board. A win could go a long way for selling the future.
