agree with dragon ... angles for goalies on international ice are different from NHL ice ... there would be a learning curve ... AND ... dude is 33 years old

33? WoW. I had no idea. The way they lost I really feel bad for the guy. He had a chance to have a huge Olympic moment. As it is I doubt their next two opponents won't take them lightly.

Take it from a guy whose NHL team he cheers for has two goalies - One formerly considered to be the best goalie not in the NHL and the other formerly considered to be the best in the Swiss Elite League. Also the GM who brought those goalies to this NHL team is no longer employed as a GM (lol).

It's only one game though. Any goalie playing anywhere close to the NHL is capable of pulling that off for one game (hell, the Belarus goalie in 2002 was playing in the United League, wasn't he?), the trick is in having the skill and consistency to do that every night. The difference between 4 goals and zero goals is often very small.

When you think about the numbers for most goalies...the statistical difference between a guy giving up 4 or giving up 0 is often not that big. You're right on about consistency. That's what gives you a job in the NHL.

But, but, but...that doesn't explain Luongo or MAF

Me neither. I do want to know how Garth missed another goalie though. I don't think he could pick one if his life depended on it. Prove me wrong Garth, prove me wrong!!

He doesn't "miss" goalies, he just doesn't want to draft one better than he was.....

Ryan Callahan is skating with Dustin Brown and David Backes at USA Practice today. (Scott Burnside)
Zach Parise was skating on that line yesterday.
Ryan McDonagh is paired with Ryan Suter. (Burnside) Both of them are left handed defenseman.

Pretty sure it's NBCSN. I can't wait. I actually convinced some friends to come over to watch it with me. Well actually one of them is my roommate whose room is right next to the TV so he will be awake anyways with me yelling at the game.

My Russian friend is coming over. It'll be awesome.

Unfortunately, I'm sick, so once the game is over, there will be no time for gloating by either of us, as I will be kicking him out so I can sleep for the rest of the day.
