Interesting, no Mac. He's better than both Fowler and Faulk. Guess they wanted more offense, kinda weird since Suter is really the only shutdown Dman on that roster right now.

I'm sure they'll work him in there. Probably just want to test their offensive firepower.
For group play, we face Slovakia, Russia, and Slovenia. Luckily we have one game to get our feet under us before we have to play the home team (AGAIN). We were able to beat Canada in Canada in group play in 2010, so hopefully we can step up in front of what is bound to be a very pro-Russia crowd. The Russians have some offense, obviously, but I don't see them being very good on D.
If Orpik plays, I'll personally call Bylsma long distance to yell at him, and send him some film of games he's actually witnessed first hand.
Also, there's no way Fowler doesn't start. Not for Orpik's sake.
Update on Team USA's defensive parings,
Ryan Suter - Kevin Shattenkirk
Ryan McDonagh - John Carlson
Brooks Orpik - Paul Martin
Fowler over Orpik and i'm happy. No way Mac wasn't going to be in, I said it.
Yeah you called it
No reason to have 4/6 of your defensemen, offensive-defensemen, we'd get burned.
I would take our chances against Team Slovakia tho, they got pummeled with injuries. But you're right, best to have a balanced lineup, that's our strength in these games, a balanced team.
Need more than just Suter on the blueline to shut down opposing teams top lines, Mac provides that.
Especially when we play teams like Canada who have 4 top lines.
The D-pairs I saw were:
Fowler-Suter
McDonagh-Carlson
Shattenkirk-Martin
Orpik-Faulk
Which I support. Orpik shouldn't be on this damn team...
