Last year it was 'he'll bust and be looking for a job in 2 or 3 years,' and now this year it's 'he won't be in the top 10.'

A few years from now, you'll 'stand by your 'assessment' that he won't be an HOF or the best in the game.

Why not just admit you were wrong about Cam. You wouldn't be the only one.

LOL. Read the very post that you quoted. I said at best he'll be #10.

You said his peak is a top 10..... You also said in all likelihood he'd bust and be looking for a job in 2-3 years.

That's a pretty wide range there. Way to play it safe.

we're rooting for the Raiders to be the worst team in football this year right?

we get their second round pick I think, right?

2nd round pick unless they make the AFC Championship Game. Then we get their 1st.

In either case - if they were the worst team in football or made the AFCCG - it would be pretty much the same pick. AFC Championship game guarantees you the 28th pick as opposed to the 33rd pick as the worst team in football.

It has nothing to do with playing it safe. I thought he would bust given history, but also knew there was a chance he wouldn't, so I put a ceiling on his potential (that's hardly playing it safe); so it just happened that he didn't bust, but I still stand by that ceiling.

In other words, little of that assessment had to do with Cam himself, but where those types of QB's land in the NFL. As I said, unlike you, I don't judge players after 1 preseason game, nor would I have Cam.

Edit: And though he didn't bust, chances were given his history of never having had to read defenses and the history of his types of QB's, that he would have busted and been out of the league in a couple years. It's simply playing the odds. He beat the odds. Which part of that is not factual?

Oh, I see how it works. I think I'll try my own projection.

I think Brandon Weeden will be a bust. After all, the last guy like him (age, experience) was Chris Weinke and he busted. But, one never knows so I'll give him a ceiling of being a top 10 quarterback..... Not top 5, but top 10.

Oh, and I also think most of the Bengals draft picks will suck except for the ones that are good....

I'm gonna agree with Cincygrad because he is usually right, but he could be wrong so I'm gonna say Cincygrad is either gonna be right or wrong.

Unfortunately, you don't get it. Not surprising, though.

Palmer looked like he has an MVP season ahead of him. 3/6, but 2 passes were dropped, and even the INT was on the money 50 yds in the air.. Twitter / BrandonTierney: The evidence: money throw, ...

he's throwing ball like 2005, maybe better

Ford looked atrocious that game. That pass went through his hands, and the 2 drops were his as well. He also muffed a punt on the very next series. All in the first quarter. Looked "disinterested" as Bill Williamson put it.

A couple things: If Carson is going to make up his mind pre-snap where the ball is going when throwing long, he really needs to look off the coverage. At least in that case, if the receiver misses the catch, there's less likelihood of an interception. Secondly, had Ford caught that ball and the other 2 that bounced off his hands, analysts would've been raving about the great throw in tight coverage and how he was back in form.

Nonetheless, you're an idiot for not overreacting to one interception in the first preseason game.

they were in max protect and only sent Ford and DHB out on pass patterns. don't think there was much he could do as far as manipulating the saftey on that play..

it was cringe worthy. his WR got beat on the play and he just lofted it up into double coverage.

But seriously, how is my Weeden projection different from your Cam projection?

But seriously, how is my Weeden projection different from your Cam projection?

You can first start by realizing the difference between a top 10 QB and at best the 10th best QB.

Anyhow, my assessment was a general attest to the UNIQUE type - though becoming more common since Vick's limited success - of QB that Cam is. Nothing more, nothing less. And it is still something that holds true to this point as well, until Cam or ANY other similar QB proves the theory otherwise. The assessment was not any type of attempt to go out on a limb as you're attempting to make it out to be.

And just to add some context to it, the whole "projection" came about by some thinking he would be one of the best QB's as some at the time also foolishly believed Vick was a top 5 QB and others thinking he would flop right from the get-go. Context does mean something. But I digress.

To reiterate, as I mentioned before, you may be comfortable with projecting a player's play after one preseason game, but I am not, nor did I do so with Cam.

Furthermore, the Weeden comparison is not valid as those "types" of QB's - though I wouldn't classify it as a "type" - are few and far between, so there is no real sample size to come to any type of real theory, and "type" is defined by skillset, not age and experience.

I've watched like zero games in which Weeden plays, but I like that he has "Weed" in his name.

Another QB for the Browns chopping block.
