Love is better overall, but Love can't defend.

My point is that the gap between those two players is not worth Butler and the long term cap hit they would have to take to resign him.

What do the Bulls need? Scoring, that's why they are chasing Melo.

They have enough defenders on that damn team, they need some offense and they can be legit contenders.

He is a big body, he can defend if he wants to.

They do, but they need it from the wing. Not sure who they can get at this point.

Also, if Rose is truly healthy, they might not need 1 pure scorer as much as they need a couple shooters. They could keep the defense in tact and go after a guy like Ariza, and still have a few bucks left over to get a bench shooter.

I think Taj is really good. He is a good player and a great locker room guy. Love might be better in a new city, but I used to have a connection who worked for the Twolves' and he told me that Love was a crappy teammate. Many of the players in Minny couldn't stand him.

Report saying Bulls out was false. They are still in it but look like the 3rd team.

Don't worry, purguy. The way the rumor mill spins, the Bulls could be in the lead later this afternoon.

I would trust Phil even though he has no experience as a GM, he just has that "it" factor. Of they sign Melo, I see them making some big moves, trading Amare, and getting Gasol. They could even trade Bargaini and get some serious roster changes.

I agree re: trusting Phil, however, if he isn't able to put together a contending roster pretty quickly, he will begin to lose some of the "it" factor.

Also, you can't assume that he will just be able to trade players. Amare, for example, is injury prone, is on the down side of his career and has a big contract. Who's going to want him unless it's a team looking to acquire an expiring contract for the future cap space and what are the Knicks likely to get back?

Trading Bargiani might get them something, but nothing that is going to make them contenders any sooner than just waiting out some of those bad contracts.

Neither will win with Melo. He doesn't fit in with Jackson's Offense, and I cant see Kobe and Melo playing together. Bad situation in both places. He really should go to the Bulls or Houston.

Well clearly, if YOU can't see Kobe and 'Melo playing together, then there's obviously no way they can. You may want to call the Lakers and tell them to quit wasting their time.

He traded a broken Chandler and fat cat Felton and got a solid PG in Calderon who can shoot, which fits the Triangle.

And got a youngster in Larkin and a serviceable center in Dalembert.

Do you know how it works? Or are you just assuming that because ball movement is important in any offense that it won't work for him?

Every offense needs ball movement to be efficient, but it also helps to have players who can score. The triangle can create space for Melo to get shots and driving lanes.

People said the triangle would not work for Jordan either. They were wrong.

Worked pretty well for Kobe too.
