Yet, didn't the Cavs just hire another Princeton guy,
to replace they one they just fired for the 2 nd time?

Simply amazing.

Not the same. Mike Brown is not a Princeton guy, he just tried to run the Princeton offense.

Blatt is a basketball genius who has won everywhere he has been. Also, he has said that he will adapt his offense to fit his personnel.

I would rather see NBA teams take a chance on a guy like this, than hiring a re-tread with limited success. Lionel Hollins and Marc Jackson are good coaches who need to get hired again soon, but all too often guys like Mike Brown end up at the top of coaching lists because they have "experience".

Dude he averaged those assists for like 1 week, not a season......and as soon as the playoffs started is was back to chucking.

Kobe is NOT a passer, never has been, and never will be. If you want to cherry pick extremely small periods of time over the 99% of his career then continue to wear the blinders. At this point EVERYONE including YOU knows what Kobe is and what Kobe isn't.

You're wrong.

And he didn't play vs the Spurs in the playoffs.

Fair enough. You obviously know more about him than me.
Two weeks ago, I never heard of him.

Not that I ever think James would play for Gilbert,
but do you think James would ever move to a team to play with a coach who has never coached at any level in the NBA?

Blatt was a brilliant outside-the-box hire. The man is a very good coach, he has won 17 championships in 21 seasons. You can knock him all you want, but he's a winner. Basketball is basketball, regardless the players you are coaching.

Interesting question. My guess is that it would depend on the coach. Example, if someone like Coach K decided to give the NBA a try, I'd bet that he would (especially since Coach K has coached the Olympic team), but I doubt he would want to play for someone like Blatt whose apparently been successful overseas, but has no NBA experience.

Most coaches who reach a high level are basketball geniuses to some extent or another, but that doesn't mean they can translate it to the NBA or get players to "buy in".

No I don't.

But maybe in 2 years if Blatt can have some success and their roster isn't such a cluster. I think this move was thinking more for the long term. Maybe Gilbert realizes he has a better chance at getting LeBron in 2016?

I am probably giving him way too much credit though.

I think he cares about the roster first off and that is the most important thing. If he took that Cleveland team to the Finals with Brown then it doesn't it is not first priority.

But this guy is supposedly a genius, we'll see how it pans out in the NBA

If front-line targets don't bite & Miami moves on to cheaper targets, Kris Humphries wd be one. Averaged 10.7 rebounds/36 mins last season.

Shouldn't the Heat's first priority other than Lebron be to get a big man, like Gasol. Dng is another 3, yes he gives them depth and could come in at the 2. Unless they plan on sometimes having a lineup where Lebron is at point and Deng at the 3, that would be interesting.

But something they have always lacked is size and rebounding, especially if they lose Bosh they would need Gasol then.

Well if they sign Bosh, they just need a solid rebounder, defender, and can score underneath. KH does that exactly and they can save some cash.

No, I'm right. Kobe has NEVER averaged 8 assists for a season.

He is what he is......if you all think he's going to change his game for Melo you're all out of your minds. Kobe is going to do what he's always done because it's mostly been successful for him in spite of himself.....his teammates have always been there to pick up his slack.

I've never thought Melo would be a good teammate for Kobe. Lebron is a much more obvious fit, but then Lebron could fit on ANY roster because he's a better all around player. Melo takes 20 shots per, as does Kobe. That's not a recipe for success especially when you don't have a real PG either.

What do Heat see in Marvin Williams? Wing defender, OK 3-pt shooter (36%), has settled into role mindset, still relatively young (28).

I have never been a big fan of Marvin, didn't even know he still played. But a cheap price he could be a good bench player

No one said he averaged 8 assists for a whole year. You said he only get high assist for a game or two, then then you said only a week, but my fellow Lakers fans showed you that he was doing it the last couple of months. So you are wrong bro!

Its funny, throughout Kobe's career, he always been the top SG or one of the top SG's, who averaged the most assist each season.

I think he gets that rap because he often forces shots in key situations, and people see those attempts on Sports Center.

The reality is that Kobe is a very good passer, but not a willing one in certain situations.

:agree:

Believe me, there isn't a Lakers fan alive who hasn't screamed "Stop shooting Kobe" at their t.v. a few times over his career. There have also been plenty of times that we've said "Damn, he should have passed instead of forcing that shot".

Thing is, we've all also seen him shoot himself out of a slump and/or hit those forced shots in key situations. It was the same for Bulls fans during the MJ years.

But for folks to suggest that Kobe can't/won't pass, especially when presented with evidence to the contrary is, just blind hate.

IF 'Melo comes to the Lakers, will it work? I don't know. As I've said, there will be hiccups along the way. But, if they both want to win, they will figure it out. If they can't figure it out, the Lakers will be a playoff team for a couple of seasons and then can add better fitting pieces when Kobe is gone.

I just think the notion that Kobe isn't willing to take anyone's help is funny. He tore his Achilles because he was expected to be the most consistent scorer, guard the best player on the opposing team and take on the ballhandling duties of a PG every single night. It was an amazing spectacle to watch but his body eventually gave out from carrying the Lakers to the playoffs. After experiencing that, to say that he wouldn't gladly pass it to someone really good ('Melo and LBJ are really good) is laughable to me.

But StarBigD has shown his lack of knowledge on the Lakers time and time again. It's like you said Trojan, this guy clearly hasn't been watching the Lakers anymore than the few times they play the Mavs every year.
