You never know with greats. They are all friends from the Olympics. I don't like the idea and don't know how it will work, and don't want it to happen in LA. But it's whatever.

I would applaud LA for pulling it off, still a longshot in my eyes.

If it does happen, I'll send you a Lebron Lakers jersey!!

Okay, this is getting crazy.

Now Ramona Shelburne and Chris Broussard are saying that the Lakers are the top threat to the Knicks for 'Melo and that there is a chance that they could get Lebron too.

It's ESPN, Ramona Shelburne and Chris Broussard, so take it with a grain of salt.

If Melo signs, I don't see how LeBron wouldn't love LA as a destination, he'd never have to worry about scoring points ever again lol.

It's true, the Lakers have cap space and the Knicks don't.

As a Heat fan, I can't say the Lakers are in full rebuild mode right now. The Lakers and Heat are in near identical situations, albeit Kobe's still taking up about a 3rd of the Lakers cap space, if not more. But LA does have some room to maneuver since the Lakers aren't handicapped by any horrible contracts; which is the polar opposite of the Knicks. The Knicks already know next year is gone as they still have Amare on the books for $20+ mil as well as Bargnani for another $10+ mil. The Lakers and Heat have this thing called flexibility at the moment.

Give me a roster that doesn't have many players on it during free agency with a ton of cap space over a roster that's got a couple of bloated contracts any day.

Stein's been reporting it for the last few hours and now

Stunner: @WojYahooNBA reports #Knicks favorites for Melo--but #Lakers in 'serious contention.' Great selling job despite humble LAL roster

There's no way they get both Melo and James, but I don't care. They could get a team around them after (IF) Melo signs.

I agree that it's a longshot (especially getting both), but when you consider that when all of this started, virtually everyone said that the Lakers had "no chance" at either one, it's pretty cool.

No chance they'd be able to get Gasol if they signed James and Melo.

That's what I was thinking, they wouldn't have a center or money.

Well, Sacre

I don't think The lakers land either one, even now......the roster won't be competitive in the West with just Melo and Kobe, 2 rookies and a bunch of waiver wire guys.
