Wade is fine. The Heat were just too cautious with him last year. The only injury he had last year was a hamstring injury. Other than that minor injury he never got hurt last year.

He's not fine lol before he was drafted he decided not to get surgery on whatever it was and it's hurting him on his decline which has been fast but he just doesn't have the explosiveness anymore

He doesn't have the explosiveness anymore but he is fine. When did I say he was the same player from 2006 or 2009? He can still give you 20+ PPG and shoot a high %

Sometimes you pay a guy more because of what he has meant to your team. Wade has given his heart and soul to that organization and has stayed with them though the good and the bad. He has had a large hand in bringing them 3 championships and 5 finals appearances.

If they have to overpay him in his last few seasons, so what? He's earned it. That's why I don't have a problem with what the Lakers gave Kobe. They didn't have to give him that much and he didn't ask for it. They gave it to him because he has made the organization far more money than what they have paid him.

I don't want to speak for Heat fans. But I'd be willing to bet that if you told them 5 years ago that they were going to be going to 4 straight finals, win 2 and then maybe not be able to field as good a team for a couple of years, because they are going to overpay D-Wade to thank him for what he's done. They'd have signed up for that in a heartbeat.

Well can't really compare him to Manu anyway, he is much older and Wade could start for any team and will. I agree he deserves it, I just have a problem with Bosh saying he wants max. He is not a max player, at all.

No one with direct knowledge of the process would declare the Lakers had overtaken New York and Chicago in Anthony's mind, but one source close to Anthony said of the Lakers, "They're in the game now." Yahoo! Sports

Adrian Wojnarowski: As one source in process says of Lakers bid, "They can promise max money without any (roster) moves needing to be made." 4 years, $97M. Twitter @WojYahooNBA - See more at: HoopsHype - NBA Rumors

John Ireland: Hearing same RT @Bill Simmons: Hearing the Lakers made a MAJOR impact on Melo -it's now a legit 3-way battle between LA/Chi/NYK to land him. Twitter @LAIreland

- See more at: HoopsHype - NBA Rumors

I still think he re-signs with the Knicks. It's cool that the Lakers made such a good impression on him though. Gives me hope that the FO is getting their "sea legs" after Dr. Buss passing. It's also said that Jeanie was in the meeting (she wasn't there when they met with Dwight). That's good because it's said that she's more liker her Dad when it comes to being a "closer".

I'll bet Kobe will be driving Carmelo "batshit crazy" with texts and phone calls until he makes his decision.

I've said all along remove lebron and as wade and rest of heat would at MINIMUM go to east finals. LeBron is more of a luxury player. Nice to have but heat could compete very well without him

:laugh3: luxury player?

You have it the opposite.

You CAN'T replace Lebron, others can be. But Wade is that other key factor, Bosh can go and nobody will care.

If Kobe is healthy with Melo, that would still be dangerous and they could fill in the pieces around them. I just don't think it will happen.

But two things on LA's side: 1. They are LA and not NY (they win titles) 2. They can offer him the max as well

I wonder if Kobe and Melo can co-exist.

I disagree wholeheartedly about Bosh. You have to consider what Bosh has sacrificed. Imo, his willingness to go from option #1 to option #3 is largely why the big 3 has worked as well as it has.

Remember that 1st season, when the Heat kept going in fits and starts because Lebron and D-Wade were trying to take turns being the #1 option? Imagine how much worse it would have been if Bosh had wanted "his turn" or demanded the touches he was getting in Toronto.

If you thought losing to Mavs in the finals was bad, imagine them not even getting to the finals because the Celtics or someone took them out in an earlier round. That's likely what would have happened if Bosh didn't accept the #3 role.

I've said it before, if the Lakers don't get 'Melo or Lebron and they decide to offer a max or near max to Bosh, you'd see no complaints from me. I wanted him when the Heat got him and I'd love to see them get him now that he's expanded his game.

I wonder if Kobe and Melo can co-exist.

I can't see it working unless Kobe plays like a facilitator.

'Melo is Kobe's closest friend in the NBA, so that should help. Kobe has shown throughout his career that he will be a facilitator if he knows he can trust his teammates. Before his Achilles went out, he averaged about 8 assists per game when the Lakers made the push to get to the playoffs.

ESPN just reported (like 30 seconds ago) that the Lakers have emerged as the top threat to the Knicks in getting Carmelo. It's ESPN, so take it for what it's worth.

Starting to get interesting.

I agree, but I still don't think he is max. I think only a handful of players deserve max. Kobe (just bc he's Kobe), KD, Lebron, CP3, and Melo (kinda). I might be missing a few, but he is very good player but not a player that can change a whole franchise like these players.

I'll have whatever you're smoking. :laugh3:

Kobe, Pau > Amare' and whatever else the Knicks have. Plus the Lakers have some young, athletic players that gave a very good account of themselves last season.

Okay, this is getting crazy.

Now Ramona Shelburne and Chris Broussard are saying that the Lakers are the top threat to the Knicks for 'Melo and that there is a chance that they could get Lebron too.

It's ESPN, Ramona Shelburne and Chris Broussard, so take it with a grain of salt.

Was I right about the Lakers having to renounce Bird rights for everybody to sign those 2?

You never know with greats. They are all friends from the Olympics. I don't like the idea and don't know how it will work, and don't want it to happen in LA. But it's whatever.

I would applaud LA for pulling it off, still a longshot in my eyes.

I'm not sure. They said that if it's just 'Melo, the Lakers don't have to make any roster changes. If it's both, they would have to unload Nash's contract (not too hard) and would probably have to do a sign and trade involving Pau for 'Melo or Lebron.

Bird rights weren't mentioned, but maybe that's why they'd have to do the sign and trade involving Pau. It's interesting that when all of this started, the Lakers were considered the least likely destination for either one, let alone both.
