Leave to go where?

I would say that out of the teams that can give him a near max deal, Joining the Rockets, or the Suns WITH Carmelo, are the only situations that would be an improvement over the one he's already in.

Sure, joining the Bulls, Spurs and maybe Thunder would get him closer to his third ring.

But, he is the best player in the NBA and won't be playing for the midlevel exception.

Why join the Cavs or Lakers to try and help them become a 50 win Team when he can stay where he is, get the most money,on a squad that's already a 50 win Team?

They got diddly-squat from the post this Season.

Gasol, Frye, Heck...Shawn Marion..would be an upgrade over the carcass of Greg Oden.

We're gotten to the point in free agency where some teams in pursuit think LeBron is more likely to leave than Melo. Stunning turn of events

Wow.

Why, Melo has always been about max cash vs winning.
Words mean nothing. Actions do.
If he was truly buying into Phil's vision which is exactly what I said he would say, he would stay in NY, but not demand a max.

I wouldn't go as far as calling Sportsman a troll (yet), but I do hope that Mecca knows we don't hold Sportsman's posts against her.

I agree. Mecca actually provides substance, not so much with Sportsman.

I'm sorry I can't humor you and pretend that the Heat aren't sinking in the ocean, if you equate that to being a troll then so be it. However, you can only bury your head in the sand for so long, Mr. Heatles.

Miami just went to its 4th straight Finals and drafted one of the better PGs in a very talented draft. If Lebron comes back to the Heat, the Heat are back in the Finals. If Lebron and Bosh leave the Heat for other teams, then yes, Miami won't be in contender status and the team will have to start the next process of rebuilding. I just find your opinions idiotic and short sighted.

You're a blind homer so you can't understand that precarious situation your team is in. What you need to do is step back and view your team objectively then you will realize that everything Sportsman is saying is true.

 Bosh is the main piece on the Heat's offense which allows Lebron to get to the paint more frequently. I remember a game where the Heat played at the Lakers where Miami was missing Bosh; the offense was playing like they were stuck in the mud as Wade and Lebron were forced to take shots out on the perimeter.

Bosh doesn't put up the same statistics as he was the 3rd option on this team. Bosh is also a decent (not great) defender.

Also, how many guys make a team a true contender when they're the number one option? The only players I can think of are Durant, Lebron and Melo (and I say the latter loosely). I don't include Duncan as the Spurs are a system team, on any given night anyone can have a great night.

Not Melo. Maybe Chris Paul, used to be Duncan and Kobe.

I disagree. Pau has said that he would be willing to take less for a chance to win another title. What he hasn't said is how much less.

Pau is in a pretty powerful position. He has already had his max payday. While he's in no longer worth a max deal, he is worth more than the MLE. He already has won 2 rings, so he's not just some older player trying to get a ring before he retires.

He loves L.A. and being a Laker (despite him constantly being in every trade rumor since the Lakers last title). Imo, he wants to see what the Lakers are going to do. If the Lakers can land 'Melo or Lebron, I think he stays because he'll have a chance to win and the Lakers can pay him more via Bird rights.

If the Lakers don't get 'Melo or Lebron, then I think there will be the possibility of a sign and trade and he may look at the MLE as a last option.

Bottom line, I don't think Pau is in any particular hurry and he doesn't need to be.

This is exactly why I don't see why people are freaking out, most of these veterans are taking their good old time, this shouldn't be a rushed process. Most of these guys are waiting for the superstars to make their decisions and then will decide, unless of course they just wanna get paid.

The max doesn't matter, bc that glitch where they can sign him for the max and still go over the cap. Also Amare and Bargiani are on those 1 year contracts so they can drop them at the end of the season and have close to $40 mil back.

I am not a Heat fan and I think you are over-dramatizing this. There may be better chances for LeBron out there, but with LeBron the Heat are a real contender even if Wade continues to decline. LeBron is that good and Bosh is a terrific complement.

I don't know about that. He was the 7th PG taken for a reason. The guy is on the smaller side at 5'11" without shoes. Had Connecticut not made it's March Madness run & Lebron striking of a friendship with Napier while he was at the Lebron camp, Napier would have been a 2nd rounder. Miami took a flyer on PG hoping he might turn out to be a steal. But I wouldn't say he was one of the top PG(s) in the draft.

I agree It wouldn't shock me if Napier is out of the league in 3-4 years. I just don't think he is a good NBA prospect. There is a reason why a lot of teams passed on him. Again this is my opinion and understand why Miami fans hope he is good.

Yep. The only hype surrounding him was coming from Miami. There really weren't any connections to other teams drafting him. I am not saying he is awful or anything, he just isn't a top PG prospect. I am thinking of him as a better shooting Jonny Flynn. And Flynn is no longer in the NBA.

Heat offered Deng 6-8 million range. Deng turned down 10 mill from the Bulls last year. Looks like Deng made a mistake. Not a bad offer from Miami if it was for 8 mill.

Most mock drafts had him going before Miami selected him. Some actually had him in the top 20. He doesn't need to be a top PG. All he needs to be is solid. I don't think Heat fans is expecting him to avg 18 & 10 and be a AS.

Top 10 :laugh3:

No one was going to draft him in the top 10. He had a nice college run but NBA is a different story.

J. Nelson would be a nice pick up for you guys for PG.
