They have room for the full max so that offer isn't impossible. But if he agrees, that basically puts the Lakers right at the cap or maybe over it when you add in the rest of the guys under contract (Kobe, Nash, Randle, Marshall, and Sacre). I don't have the CBA memorized but that means in order to get Pau, they'd have to exercise his Bird Rights in order to go over the cap to sign him. It also means LA is basically restricted to minimum level FAs unless they are their own (again, bird rights)

This too. I don't think it's a coincidence that the only Lakers FA to sign with another team so far is Jodie Meeks. I'm not saying that 'Melo is coming to L.A., I don't think he is.

But I'd bet the Lakers other FA's are waiting to see what happens and may have even asked told to "sit tight and be patient".

I heard today that even after being over the cap and paying the luxury tax, the Lakers still turned a profit of $100 million dollars (nearly double the next closest team), so they are not concerned with any luxury taxes.

Lebron doesn't have the greatest track record

What track record? In his 11 year career, he has played for 2 organizations. As Heat fans have pointed out for the past 4 years, he fulfilled his contract in Cleveland and exercised his rights as a free agent.

He has fulfilled his contract with Miami and has used his opt out clause, to once again, exercise his rights as a free agent. Unlike 4 years ago, he isn't talking to any other teams yet. That tells me that he is giving the Heat every opportunity to do what he needs them to do.

If I'm a Heat fan, I'm not worried unless and until he actually starts talking to other teams.

There is no doubt that the Lakers fans post here in greater numbers than any other fans but that doesn't change the fact that the Lakers will be only average at best in 2014.

Wasn't talk about what he does on the court
He has only played for two NBA teams yet you are saying he has a bad track record as a free agent?

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but glad you were able to get it off your chest.:suds:

His agent met with 4 teams and he will narrow his list to 3 teams and will meet with those teams next week.

As I said before he is gone. Heat need to forget about him and make other moves with their cap space. If he has it his way he is going to drag this out until next weekend or even further, sign with another team, and leave the Heat in the same shape he left the Cavs 4 years ago.

BTW none of those possible 3 teams listed the Heat. At least Melo has the decency to meet with the Knicks last.

Lebron expect Pat to make moves when the players he's meeting with doesn't have an clue if Lebron is coming back? As a player you would be flat out retarded to agree to a deal with Miami when you don't have the slightest clue if Lebron is coming back. Can't expect the Heat to persuade FA to come here when Pat can't guarantee them what their contract will be or if you will even be here

These players have no allegiance to any team. LeBron played hard and well for the Heat but he has a chance for a better contract and greater peace of mind.

His agent speaking to teams doesn't mean much, imo. His agent wouldn't be doing his job if he wasn't preparing for the unlikely event that Riley can't deliver on what Lebron wants. I'd be willing to bet anything that his agent has talked to more than 4 teams. His agent probably knows what every single team in the league can offer him.

I wouldn't worry about it until I heard that teams were going to be meeting with him directly.

According to sources 3 of 4 will be selected for a 2nd meeting early next week in Cleveland with Lebron present this time......None of those teams even included the Heat

All I'm saying is LBJ is being unrealistic if he honestly expects Pat to sign all these surrounding pieces without knowing if he's coming back or not...On top of that they obviously Lebron and the others to make a decision so they even know how much money they have available to give the other free agents.

According to what sources? Sources have been saying all kinds of shit. There were sources saying that Lebron and 'Melo could both end up with the Lakers, that they both could end up with the Knicks, etc.

Also, look at all of the FA's that haven't signed with anybody yet. Think maybe they are waiting to see what their own teams are going to do?

Pau is a good example. He's probably waiting to see what the Lakers will do. If 'Melo accepts the Lakers offer, he probably remains a Laker. If 'Melo doesn't accept the offer, I'd bet the Heat will become the frontrunners for him.

Maybe LeBron isn't impressed with Spoelstra's coaching abilities.

Lebron may not have come out and said that he's coming back, but I'll bet Riley knows EXACTLY what he wants in order to come back.

And reports are if Lebron come back to the Heat it will be a 1 yr deal or a 2 yr deal with opt out clause after year 1.

If that's the case fuck you and we'll move on. No time to be going through this every other year.

Wow. You really sound appreciative of all the great basketball and 2 NBA Championships that LeBron contributed to.
