Its not a bad injury.
It is fairly routine surgery that usually returns players 100% healthy.

Its sort of another break for the Spurs in a weird way.

Mills signed for well below market value, because the injury will probably cause him to be less attractive for teams needing a point guard that can play now.

The Spurs do have Tony Parker as their starter. Mills is only the 2nd team PG.
Cory Joseph is a more than capable backup if Mills misses the first 25 games or so

If there was such a thing as a "lucky" injury, this one was it for the Spurs.

I was worried that Patty was going to break the bank and force the Spurs to overspend.
They end up getting him for far less thanks to a timely injury.

Gasol isn't signing for the MLE, no chance.

Durant and Westbrook met with Gasol on Wednesday and it is being reported that the Thunder are now the leader. Would be such a good move for both sides. Gasol can show he should have been playing with his back to the basket all along and his passing abilities from inside will just open up so many things for the Thunder.

Who would have thought that amnestying Mike Miller would have been the reason LBJ leaves. He was really upset with Riley and Arison after that because they were worried to much about the Cap. I dont think he has forgiven them.

I don't get why the Bulls are after Gasol. That would be the same as having Boozer. Just a little upgrade plus that puts Gibson back on the bench.

So Gortat is worth more than Bosh? So Jodie Meeks is worth as much as Wade?:laugh3:

Yes, Wade couldn't give you a full season last season, it is only going to get worse going forward. Gortat is a true big, Bosh is a useless tweener.

You're right, picking up Gasol gives the heat the best chance of winning. Once you get him, filling out the rest of the roster is easy.

Spurs got lucky in a way, you're right. However, Patty Mills is expected to come back in March (he's expected to miss 7 months). That's significant as he'll have to get into game shape for the playoffs and that's not something that happens over night.

Who would have thought that amnestying Mike Miller would have been the reason LBJ leaves. He was really upset with Riley and Arison after that because they were worried to much about the Cap. I dont think he has forgiven them.

Mike Miller wasn't the reason we lost to the Spurs. Miami had a plethora of wing players at their disposal and didn't find it necessary to spend over $10 mil (including luxury tax here) for a player that's going to play sparingly. Arison has proven he'll pay the luxury tax, but he's not going to just throw money out blindly. If Lebron is still pissed at this then he needs to quit his bitching. Bitch about other things like a large portion of the roster not showing up for the Finals.

Pacers are trying hard to get a PG as they're trying to get Rondo or Dragic in a trade

Seems to me lebron having his decision 2 hour special has effected league wide. Seems like the superstar players have decided in order to compete they need their own big 3 or big 4 and above average role players. Nobody knows what heat are up to rumors are they want to keep big 3 then add in above average point guard and big man.

Dragic? Are they giving up Paul George?

Marc Stein: Indiana Pacers, I'm told, have tried to engage Phoenix in trade talks for Goran Dragic, but teams have found no common deal ground. Yet something to keep an eye on, though, with Indy known to covet an upgrade at PG and stubborn perception Suns can't afford Bledsoe AND Dragic.

I can't imagine what the Pacers would have to offer for Dragic.

Dragic has one more year before his big payday.

If the Suns manage to sign or trade for a huge player this offseason... they'll want to keep Dragic for the final year to contend.. and take it from there.

If they dont... they'll be plenty of money to sign him next season.

The Dragic talk is only coming from Indy's direction. It's the same talk that was there last summer after Bledsoe was acquired. The only way I see Phoenix parting with Dragic is if Lebron signed in Phx & Dragic was part of a Kevin Love trade. Outside of that happening, I don't see him leaving Phx any time soon. He is a better player than Bledsoe right now.

Basically, they are trying to throw everything at the wall & see what sticks since Stephenson talks are not going so well.

And now it is the waiting game.....

Teams and agents agree: Outside of role players now, the market is frozen until Miami's free agents and Carmelo Anthony make decisions.

Pat Riley is still setting up free agent meetings for his trip to L.A. this week, selling promise of rings over Miami's shrinking cap space.

Bottom line, until these guys actually start signing deals, pretty much everything we hear is a smokescreen, speculation and/or out and out b.s.

It's not as if any of these teams, agents or players are above spreading false information to advance their agenda's.

That's good news for role players. Those guys will continue to suck up some of the money that would otherwise go to better players. I expect see more full MLE & 3/$20 type contracts given out while the better players are stuck in a holding pattern.

It's bad news for everyone else that has to play the waiting game.
