But seriously, how much do you guys think beamer will handcuff the program from getting better with this next move? Will he even fire the right people/bring in the right people? I feel like he is just going to maintain the status quo, or do the next closest thing like hire the fridge. We need a move for the future!!! This next phase is CRITICAL for the next era of VT football

There are 3 scenarios that can be played out:

1) Will we see a firing/retiring on the offensive side of the ball? If so, that's the kind of situation where we can bring in somebody like Tony Franklin. This is what pretty much all fans want.

2) Will there just be a reshuffling of coaches? Personally, I think that's worst case scenario. I don't think any of the offensive coaches currently staffed can advance the offense. There will be quite the outcry if Shane gets named OC.

3) Nothing happens.

I'm hopeful that 1 happens. I'm more scared of 2 than 3.

This is just a hunch, but I think Frank does something significant with the offense. He knows he's running out of time to win a title before he either retires or gets put out to pasture. It's impossible to look at the offense this year and think what they are doing is working. Frank's made changes before (cleaning up the mess after the 2003 team, shuffling the coaching staff after the bad recruiting in 2010-11) so I have some faith in his ability to recognize when change is needed.

NC State has fired TOB

That's a shame. I would have said unexpected if not for that leak about them talking to Vandy's Franklin a couple weeks ago ( James Franklin Rejected NC State But Then Wait No He Didn't - Backing The Pack ). NC State fans' expectations were too high for this year. They were talking about winning the ACC preseason, which was laughable. The only loss you shake your head at is UVA, and they had 5 turnovers in that game. Will be interesting to see who they bring in, and whether they can do any better. They will be starting off in a much better position than when TOB came in, anyway. He was a good coach, but I think they want more youth and energy, and I can't blame them for that.

Probably a little unnecessary on NC State's part. I thought TOB had done a decent job of slowly turning that program around.

Totally expected on Auburn's part. With the on field performance and off field investigations, its best to just burn the house down and start over

With Lowder off the board at Auburn, maybe they can finally clean things up there.

Well word is Franklin has gotten Debbie Yow's panties in a bunch since he was the CIW at Maryland (when she was there). :popsdance:

Seriously, though. There is definitely something there concerning Franklin and NCST. I would be shocked if he wasn't at least contacted, if not offered the job.

I am pretty sure that I read that Franklin shot down NCState earlier this week, hence leaking the news of TOB's firing.

It's confirmed that it was him. They're also reporting that Crennel and Pioli tried to stop him and he shot himself in front of them...

I see that Rocco is finally moving on from UVA. Surprised it took this long for a QB to transfer.

QB Michael Rocco gets release from UVa - Roanoke.com

Sims had a decent showing this year, very comparable to Rocco IMO. But I watched several of UVAs games where Sims got significant snaps, the VT D should be far from terrified of him next year.
