I understand...... I was just frustrated that the team didn't take steps to avoid playing the Jays. HFA isn't as meaningful in baseball as it is in football and basketball.
We just weren't good enough to be very competitive in the playoffs. All of the come from behind and close wins created a record that was better than our talent level in my opinion.

You're surprised the DFW sports media isn't on top of Rangers baseball? Have you been under a rock the last... oh 30 years?

Seriously though, I'm wondering if there's not something he's working on that he doesn't want to show yet.
They did the same thing with Hamels last year. I believe he only registered 9 innings against big league clubs last spring. A couple of times with Philly he threw 3 times that amount. I guess he could be working on something both times, but surely we have other starters working on things and they pitch in regular ST games. I know I have read that Darvish is working on some things. In the grand scheme of things it is no big deal, but I do find it a mystery and mysteries have always intrigued me.

I think this is a recipe for disaster. A good way to cool down 3 hot hitters.

I hate platoons. Just an opinion. Seems like the guy whose hot is usually the one not playing, or maybe that's just how it goes for us.

Wasn't he AL pitcher of the month in April, or was it May 2 seasons ago?

Some spares get lucky every now and then. I remember Tepesch shut people down a few starts in a row when he started. A couple of people actually thought he was good.

Jurickson Profar is on fire at the World Baseball Classic.

At the plate that is.

Despite hitting .464 for the Netherlands, Profar had his struggles on the base paths, first against Israel, then in the semifinals against Puerto Rico.

After a single in the first inning, Profar nonchalantly walked back to the bag while waving his arms to pump up the crowd. Puerto Rico catcher Yadier Molina was not having it.

Puerto Rico went on to win the game, 4-3, in 11 innings to move on to the WBC Finals. They will play the winner of the United States-Japan semifinal.

Hopefully Jurickson is getting this out of his system. Rangers fans might not be too happen if this happens at Globe Life Park.

I, for one, am loving the WBC. The raw passion/emotion shown by the players, the crowd excitement, etc.

I know Smoltz isn't a fan of all the celebrations/emotion/etc from the players ---- but it's what the game needs. IMO.

"The Tommy John rate in warm weather states is at times twice as high as the kids that are protected by cold weather."

That's down right weird, isn't it?

For better or worse, generally speaking, the Spanish players play with more flare and fanfare than the "old-schooler's" of baseball can stand.

Napoli was on with Norm this morning and he really wants to manage when his playing days are done. Really didn't know he had this aspiration.

Makes sense from the former catcher standpoint, but yeah, he really hasn't shown that disposition from what I've seen.

The Rangers have announced a contract extension for their catcher.

Chirinos that is.

Back up plan. I like Robbie. I think he's a solid backup, but I don't want him as our starting catcher ever again.
