and i dont think they have any intentions to trade haniger
ether..they are gitting close
and may need a few more
players...in the rebuild

but if they trade haniger this year
i would say...it would be at the
deadline..
if at all
next year at the deadline...is even better

There's no way the M's don't get a couple of the Phillies top prospects with Santana and Crawford.

I'm expecting one out of Sixto Sanchez/Alec Bohm/Adam Haseley/Mickey Moniak and one of Adonis Medina/Jhailyn Ortiz/Ranger Suarez/JoJo Romero/Enyel De Los Santos

I'm getting the feeling that Santana is being considered the jewel in this deal.

Pretty sure they'll use Santana to flip. They have to consider this option to pull the trigger on a deal like this.

Here's Olney's take. Pretty much saying the M's don't care other than getting rid of financial obligations. Anyone with extra zero's are gone. Still doesn't make any sense considering the contracts they've gotten in return are pretty astounding.

Yes this trade sucks but the Mariners completely self sabotaged themselves with the whole Segura thing. They pretty much painted him as a clubhouse cancer and one of the main reasons for their 2nd half collapse. Now it was obvious to everyone they wanted him gone badly. Not sure about you but thats not exactly the recipe for holding the leverage in the situation. So me personally I never thought we were getting a ton for him and that was confirmed when those Padres Wil Meyers rumors started.

If thats the case Im hoping the 3rd baseman and the guy with 8 walks is gone too.

I agree. They'll view Santana as someone with more value and will flip him for better prospects than Segura would bring back.

What the hell.....

it's not like santana is cheap anyway. Plus you have the money you just ate for Bruce and Swarzak.

I fully believe that this is the worst trade the Mariners have made since the Erik Bedard trade.

Only way that this trade even breaks even is if the Mariners can get something for Santana and Crawford lives up to expectations. Even if Crawford does live up to expectations, I don't think he'll ever be as good as Segura is.

Crawford was a very highly rated prospect but hasn't performed all that well in his brief time in the majors. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't have high expectations for him.
