Brutal. Trent Grisham better hope he is traded over the winter.

Hader just is a playoff choker. Happens to a lot of great players. Barry Bonds and Eddie Murray come to mind.

Hader has an electric rising fastball, but his slider is poor and he has no other pitches. Good hitters who have seen him multiple times have gotten wise to his stuff and can make contact on him now. He needs another good pitch to keep hitters off balance and guessing.

Wisconsin fans are very forgiving in comparison to other markets. Yes, the Grisham error was egregious and painful, but fans will be willing to give him a chance at redemption.

I can't tell from the replay, but do you think if he fielded it cleanly they would have still scored 2 runs? Because if he fields it cleanly and they still get the 2 runs, or even one run then Soto doesn't get thrown out on the bases and they have another guy coming up.
It's still a bad error either way, but I think once Soto got the hit it the chances of Milwaukee winning definitely decreased a lot even if he didn't misplay it.

Agreed. When Hader's slider isn't working, he struggles so the Nats were definitely in the drivers seat even if Grisham didn't commit the error.

I don't know much about the kid's arm. But I think they probably tie the game there. Certainly wouldn't have taken the lead.

Yeah definitely wouldn't take the lead on that play, but they would have 1st and 2nd for Kendrick in the bottom of the 8th with a chance to go ahead there. Worst case they are the home team going into the 9th tied, so the odds had already shifted in the Nats favor.

I hate when managers bring in their closer to get six outs. It’s just not what they do. As soon as they brought him in early, I knew they were in for trouble. In any case, so long as Ryan Braun is on the team, I wish the Brewers nothing but misery. Fuck that guy. May he never win anything.

I liked the Brewers strategy though. Hader has a .143 BAA against lefties hitters this year. So, pitching around righty Rendon and going after lefty Soto was the way to go. Hader just couldn't execute. When he hit a scrub like Mike Taylor, on a 3-2 pitch, you could almost tell the meltdown was coming.

Can't doubt Counsel though. He made all the right calls.

Funny I hadn't thought about Bond's post season numbers but he was shit except 2002 that is...

And even though I'm a lifelong Giants fan I'm not a fan of Bonds. It's complicated but suffice it to say I used to be way back when he first came into the league.

For the entire 2002 post he had a combined (3 series - 2 playoffs and WS) BA of .346

With 8 HRs and a combined OPS of 1.515 ...

His most famous play in the playoffs is being a Gold Glover who made Johnny Damon look like Vlad Guerrero the senior when trying to throw out Sid Bream who had a walker at second base.

He he he

yup.

Man I don't like the Braves and I was rooting so hard for the Bucs.

Skinny, pre PEDs, Barry was worthless in the post season.

I think he was scoring regardless of the misque or not. Once the hit got to the outfield you knew it wasn't the Brewers year yet again
