I think they have been asking too much for him. Other teams know the Diamondbacks don't want him so they are reluctant to give up anything of value. I wonder if his fate remains undecided into spring training again.

Yeah, I think you're right. The only chance they have to get very much in return is to get to spring training and wait for a contender to find out one of their pitchers has to have Tommy John or has some other major injury.

Several folks on Twitter just can't wrap their heads around Burnes taking less from the Diamondbacks than he was offered by other teams. They seem to think every player owes it to the union to always take the top dollar, and ignore personal reasons and things like state taxes.

These players do not owe that to the union. The smart players realize that.
