I don't think so, I just think Baalke realizes that in the NFC teams need as many DBs with size and speed that they can get. The Saints, Packers and Giants all have/had 3-4 legitimate receiver threats... I think the 49ers are just trying to match those teams.

Interesting point, it would be as if we are counter attacking.

2-years for Cox? Why not just a 1-year?

I would imagine it's set up alot alike how UDFA two-year contracts are set up. That doesn't completely answer the question for doing two instead of one, but I would guess it's a similar concept.

Baalke seems to be all about the low risk-high reward guys. Since I imagine Cox came very very cheap.

When you have good/great coaches you can do this and come out ahead - in some cases, way ahead.

I just hope Rogers doesn't sign with the Rams. Harbaugh must know that they have a solid locker room. Cox looking for a fresh start. I hope he takes advantage of this "golden" opportunity.

I was pushing for the 49ers to draft him, so I'm happy with it. I think it was Sick that was also pushing for him. Hoping Cox's off-field issues are over obviously. Very, very talented player.

My guess on the cox signing is the depth factor. Replace spencer? Except he probably jumps brock on the depth chart and subs with Culliver if Rogers is back.

49ers (twitter):

Perrish Cox said he had a great relationship with #49ers DB coach Ed Donatell with the Broncos. "Hopefully that can start up again."

----------

Bach:

Cox played with Kendall Hunter in college so followed the #49ers a bit last year, though said it was difficult to watch while he was out

Acquitted corner Perrish Cox signs with San Francisco 49ers - ESPN

The foreman of the jury that acquitted Cox said earlier this month that jurors agreed Cox had had sex with his accuser, but no evidence was presented on when it happened or in what condition the woman was in.

The woman became pregnant after visiting Cox's apartment after a night of partying in 2010, and prosecutors said DNA tests indicated Cox was the father. The woman testified she couldn't remember much of what happened. Cox's attorney questioned whether the woman simply didn't remember having sex.

Jury foreman Mitch Summerfield told KUSA-TV in Denver there was no way for jurors to evaluate whether she was awake when she and Cox were together, much less whether Cox knew what condition she was in.

49ers ... more Perrish Cox: "I never want to be in the position that I was in before ever again. That’s not me. I’m not that type of guy. To prove that, I will show the community, and the coaches, and the team, what type of guy I am, and can be. From here on out, I’ll show it."

Is #49ers Perrish Cox a starting CB: "If I am, it will be proven. If not, I’ll take the backup role also."

#49ers Perrish Cox said he went to dinner with CEO Jed York and GM Trent Baalke: "Like I was telling them, whatever happened, happened. I take full responsibility for my actions, but it will never happen again. I’m a positive guy."
