Now the Steelers take a WR that burns us for the next 5 years, time and again.

Colts draft Phillip Dorsett. Must be fun to have a real GM running the draft

I went to bed and missed all the action.

You guys need to look on the bright side.... We won't spend the entire season wondering why our first rounder doesn't play.

so we drafted a guy who's career is pretty much over due to an unrecoverable injury?

My theory that Mike Brown is attempting to use oujia boards and magic 8 balls in an attempt to contact his father is still in tact.

Our draft room needs psychiatric evaluation.

that is all.

I don't have much issue with the pick.

so after reading up on this a bit, basically, if he heals he will likely live up to his previous top tier rating. So either he's the next Anthony Munoz, or he's a bust. I can accept that risk for the Bengals I guess.

The reality is...no one being drafted was going to start this year outside of maybe, MAYBE, a WR in the slot.

Dupree would be sitting behind MJ, Dunlap, Gilberry, and potentially Clarke...or at least sitting next to Clarke on the bench. So, for everyone pissed about that, he'd provide very little impact.

The DT wasn't going to start over Atkins, Peko, Simms (Is that who they brought back?), and Thompson

Dorsett would have been nice, but at 21....probably a bit of a stretch there, though I do think if one of the WR's had fallen (Parker or that kid from USC) they might have taken a hard look at that.

Most people have said he would have been the #1 OT in the draft if not for the injury. Considering that just about anyone drafted at this spot wasn't going to get a ton of PT anyway...why not take a guy who could end up being one of the better tackles in this draft when healthy. With both Whit and Smith up for contracts next year...it's not a bad pick.

This draft is going to be about adding depth, and looking at next year when I think 14 guys are up on their contracts.

Besides, the one position they need to get help from the most is locked in with Dalton, so does any of it really matter?

I think you and I have been in agreement on this subject all off season now. I think there is very little to what you have said and I have said that differs. Nice post, I LIKE it!

I also read an article on the Bengals.com, so take it for what it is worth...

Clarke has gained 20 pounds of muscle in the offseason, starting with his core and legs. That was his biggest weakness is core strength going against bigger OT's. They also say at 20 pounds more muscle he might actually be faster because the pounds added were muscle in the lower body and core. He was a work out champion at West Virginia.

I am not granting him anything, but as we all know he didn't get hardly any playing time last year as a rookie, and Drago pretty much sucked.

I can see us drafting a DE at some point in this draft, but he will probably be another project around rounds 4-7 that has all the physical tools, but raw. He could have been a high pick had he not been so raw.

I would not be surprised if La'el Collins dropped to the Bengals at pick 53, that they might take two OT's in back to back rounds.

I see the Bengals taking a look at this guy in round 4-5 at DE, all the physical tools, but raw, needs technique improvement, etc. Someone with all the talent and size, but someone who needs to be coached up and taught differently. Marvin loves projects like this, and if we are not going to get one of the top pass rushers in the first round, then a guy like this fits their typical draft mold:

Za’Darius Smith, DE, Kentucky, NFL Draft - CBSSports.com - NFLDraftScout.com

I am thinking WR Devin Smith in round 2. They will go after a WR in round 2 I think. I think LB is a strong possibility, but with Devin Smith sliding to 53, with his speed and his local popularity, his ability to fight for the ball, etc. I think the Bengals have him listed higher on their draft board and at 53 he is too good of an option to pass up.

If Randy Gregory falls all the way to 53, which I seriously doubt, I don't think there is a chance Gregory falls to 54. He would be too good of a value pick at that point. But since he will be gone and both Collins, I see Devin Smith as the pick.
