A guy that lived one street behind me played his junior and senior seasons. Terry was a good basketball player but bench material there. The little short woman that sat next to Coach Thompson was Terry's sister and Coaches academic adviser.

Incredible coach and an incredible man. Listening to Terry tell Big John stories was priceless.

RIP coach.

Rip Lou Brock !

Being a lifetime Cardinals fan who was fortunate enough to play in their organization this one hit me hard. I was blessed to get to know Mr. Brock pretty well and I can tell you he was a class act on and off the field. RIP

I was not a Cardinals fan but they always had players I liked. Lou was one of them. I always liked guys who could steal a base.

Maybe that's why we are buddies because I was blessed with speed too even though my stolen bases were at the minor league level. We all went to spring training together in Florida and I got to know many of the great ones who excelled at the major league level. Then when spring training was over, just like a sailor or a marine when basic training is over, you will be assigned here or there if you know what I mean.

Speed, not size was my game also. Especially in football and hockey.

I hear you! I was a 2nd baseman who didn't hit with a lot of power but being blessed with speed I was able to turn a lot of routine singles into doubles. It's a different game today because even 2nd basemen are bulked up and expected to hit line drives off the wall or at least on one bounce consistently.

Yes the days of an average size to smaller player are mostly over. Then too, a lot of those bigger guys can run pretty damned fast. I don't think we will see a Wills, Brock or Morgan for a long time.

You're right. I remember when a guard in the NBA at 6' was considered tall. Now they are 6'6" minimum. Damn I'm getting old!

I watched the KC game the other night, they had 15,000 - 20,000 fans there. I think all the teams could do that as long as they spread them out and require them to wear a mask. This would allow them to keep some of the revenue generated by fans in the stands and give a little bit of a home field advantage. In Washington that would probably be more WTF fans than they have had in several years. It would also allow some people who work at the stadium to have a job to go to.

I was going down an elevator in the hospital yesterday and guys were talking about football. This is IN Wasington DC. Not one of them was going to root for the WTF team.
