Right now I don't think so as long as 'Action' Jackson stays healthy. I think he has removed just about all doubts about who this year's MVP will be and in my opinion he is currently the most electrifying player in any sport.

Strasburg 7 years with Nats! done deal

Since Strasburg re-signed today with the Nats for 7 years for 245 million can you imagine what Cole will get? These contracts in all sports are ridiculous!

Word is it's gonna be over 300m. Holding out hope for Rendon. Losing optimism though.

ar

Heard reports that $80 million is deferred. Seems to be the Lerner's move. Not sure when the credit card payment comes due.

I'll be shocked if the Nats find a way to re-sign Rendon after the deal they made today with Strasburg but tricky accounting has worked many times before in sports.

If they wanted to they could do it. We were told Harper was let go to be able to sign Rendon. I ain't gonna lie, I'm gonna be heated if they let Rendon walk and if I'm Rizzo I have to seriously consider my options if this is gonna be how the Ted and Mark continue to operate.

Perhaps they did want to sign Rendon instead of Harper, but let's also remember that Harper didn't want any money deferred. To me that probably gave the team reason to move on. I'm also not going to like Rendon not being resigned, but if he's open to later cash in a manner similar to Strass, look for the Nats to work things out with him as well. #Optimism

The offer they made to Bryce was an offer they knew he wouldn't accept. Word is they are trying to trade with the Cubs right now to replace Rendon. You're right though. I'm gonna try to keep the faith.

I don't expect Rendon back. As much as I like him and would like to sign him they have to think ahead to Turner, Soto and Robles .... I hope.

That's my point Sportster. "We can't sign Harper, we have to think about Rendon." I was never a Bryce guy, especially after he trolled us during the Stanley Cup, but I don't want to keep kicking this can down the road.

Props for getting Stas signed, but we have a window here and Rendon is a key part of it. You are right though, I don't expect him back either.

I understood the point ... and you are right, you have to wonder if they do the same thing down the road. This is big time baseball. You don't get to keep everyone. Rendon and Strasburg careered it in their FA year. :noidea:

The business side of sports makes us all unhappy from time to time when one of our favorite players goes elsewhere and particularly when that player comes back to haunt us in our own division.

The point I'm trying to make is that from what I understand the Phillies are going to make obtaining Rendon their top priority during the winter meetings. For all of you Nats fans I hope this doesn't happen because Rendon is one hell of a great player.

Word is they are chasing Bryant from Chicago. That will probably cost us Robles, Kieboom, and a pitcher. It just makes more sense to keep the REAL NL mvp in town. Again, if im Rizzo I'm pissed.

You just answered my question before I asked you which is what would the Nats have to give up to get Bryant if it comes down to this? I think we are about to see the Cubs dismantle before our very eyes which is okay with me as a Cardinals fan since they are our biggest rival. Yes, Rizzo has got to be pissed. This offseason is shaping up to be one of the most active in memory when it comes to players changing uniforms and it has just started.
