while im probably taking too much time on baseball right now..there is covid..and election problems..im monitoring..and watching
and staying home..a lot ..and there are still more projects to get to..at home still...lol
but
the mariners..need to take there opportunities..where they can...and while there are some players at some times..they may not be available later
or at the price..we know money matters...

mariners should go get

david dahl....no matter what
this would be a game changer..in terms of line up...no matter who the 2b.man..turns out to be..and moore could do that just fine ..prob

if they want to compete for a playoff spot this coming year..then they need to add more free agents..which i have already posted many
2 closers or a closer and a guy who can set up and close ..have to be on the list...matt magil..wont work

WILL VESTRP, SEATTLE MARINERS
https://www.rotoworld.com/baseball/mlb/player/62710/will-vest

Mariners selected RHP Will Vest from the Tigers with the No. 10 pick of the Rule 5 Draft.

Vest, 25, was a 12th round pick by the Tigers in 2017 out of Stephen F. Austin. The right-hander appeared in 37 games over the 2019 minor league season with an ERA of 3.27 accumulated over three levels with a 58/18 K/BB ratio in 55 innings. He'll battle for one of the final spots in the Seattle bullpen in the Cactus League.

The Mariners have agreed to a deal with right-hander Chris Flexen, reports Mike Mayer of MetsMerized (Twitter link). The New York Post’s Ken Davidoff hears the same, adding that Flexen will be guaranteed $4.75MM over two years on the pact. The pact also includes a pair of options for 2023, per Davidoff. There’s a $4MM club option and, if Flexen throws 150 innings in 2022 or 300 frames from 2021-22, an $8MM vesting option. The O’Connell Sports Management client could also make an additional $1MM in performance bonuses, and he’ll earn $250K if he’s traded. The Mariners won’t be able to send Flexen to the minors without his consent, Davidoff adds.

hile the move has yet to be officially announced, sources confirm the Mariners have reached agreement with right-hander Chris Flexen, a former 14th-round selection of the New York Mets who had a standout season in the Korean Baseball Organization in 2020.
e 26-year-old Flexen made his Major League debut on July 27, 2017 and pitched in parts of three MLB seasons with the Mets, putting up an 8.07 ERA in 68 innings over 27 appearances, including 11 starts. His numbers in the KBO this past season are more likely what caught Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto’s eye.

either bull pen or rotation it is one slot down..from a needs stand point

if he is bull pen he is a 3 inning guy
if he is a starter...he is a 6-7 inning guy

they still need more though....
and
some closers

kikuchi..................................L/L
Ljay Newsome 74............R/r.......likely a 3 inning bull pen guy

if flexen fails..with a 4.00 era or above .....look for gilbert to step in by the end..of the year..then...flexen to the bull pen as a 3 inning guy
