I like your "kill" choice in theory but Princip was an anarchist and given the instability at the time the anarchists would have found another way.

Well, several anarchists were positioned shoot the Archduke. An errant shot or a backfiring car sent the motorcade back to his residence.

By pure chance, later in the afternoon, the Archduke was driving toward the airport when Precip just happened to be standing on the route and was shocked to see the Archduke and to get another chance at him.

But in general, I agree with you. I would go as far as to say someone, some country, would have found a way to light the fuse and start the war.

Once you put it in a bun, it's a sandwich. Lying in a plate next to a pile of beans, no, it's still a hot dog.
I don't disagree but i have never heard anyone say " Damn I think I want a Hot Dog Sandwich" but I have heard a lot of people say " Man a Roast Beef Sandwich would be great right now"

Thanks for clarifying. Does that mean a hamburger on a plate without a bun isn't a sandwich either? And this might rock my world: Does bread need to accompany the bologna for me to call it a bologna sandwich?

A hot dog (and to clarify, WITH a bun) meets the definition of a sandwich, but is referred separately because it is its own category of sandwich, as is the hamburger (again, WITH bun).

Depends.
Bun vs bread.
Neither is a hamburger.
Nor a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit.

Sandwiches are made on...get this...sandwich bread.

I do work with a fella that eats baloney sandwiches almost every day. Almost.
On the days he does not, he brings in two hot dogs that he slices length wise and lays on the bread to make a sandwich.

A McKenzie Frank in a top split Frankfurter roll? No.

I doubt there is universal acceptance on this but my understanding is a sandwich is either on bread or a split roll, of which hamburgers and hot dogs would apply.

I would agree your co-worker is making a hot dog sandwich since without the roll it's no longer in the "hot dog" category of sandwich despite the presence of the hot dog.

True if one used two pieced of Boston Lettuce, Tomato, Onion and Bologna wouldn't the two pieces of lettuce serve as the bread? And would it still at that point be a sandwich

The sandwich spectrum is quite broad at this point. Even though I never would’ve considered a hot dog a sandwich, I feel like it does fall on that spectrum somewhere. If subs and wraps are sandwiches, then a hot dog must be, too, I guess.

As much as the term "sandwich" is used, many really refer to a "mock-wich". If bread or roll is part of the definition, anything similar is a mock-wich like wraps or plant-based outer shells.

I'm not getting on a high horse to protect the integrity of a sandwich, all variations are fine, but by pure definition it needs a bread or roll.

So therefor in your opinion a Hot Dog is a sandwich

A sandwich is usually designated as meats, cheeses and condiments between two pieces of bread. A hotdog roll is one solid piece of bread with meat in the middle not two separate piecessandwich definition - Yahoo Search Results.
