Series Thread: Oakland @ Mariners June 30-July 3

Should be a good series for the M's. Gilbert 8-3 against righty Martinez 1-0. Looks like Martinez has only pitched 5.1 innings with an ERA of 0.00. Hope our offense backs up Gilbert and/or at least makes a decent showing tonight.

WOW!! Gilbert almost got hit but he was protecting himself and had his mitt in the area where the ball was and caugnt. Amazing to see that.

A lot of posters have checked out - justifiably so - but if/when this season ends up becoming a failure, I want to see it with my own eyes. You can't appreciate winning if you don't experience losing.

Wow, that home run by Julio was a sinker at 96 (I believe), off the left side of the plate and he took that to centerfield. He is something special.

Feels like a switch flipped, or a light went on for Cal. Whatever the adjustment was, it is really paying off. I dont see any dramatic swing or stance changes, but he must have shortened up. Maybe he had a hitch in his hands or something before? Either way, all contact these days is hard contact, and with his build, he doesn't need much to launch.

tmw the bats are pissed...they'd have to be if the pitcher blew a 4-1 lead.

With the NHL and NBA playoffs over, I also have no reason to not watch the Mariners unless it conflicts with my work schedule.

He has always had the potential - just like Zunino - but he's hit or miss at the plate.

Unless I'm reading his stat line wrong, it looks like all of Cal's hits have either been doubles, triples or HRs. He doesn't have a single this year if I'm reading his numbers correctly.

He has 9 or 10 singles, but loads of power. He's found a way to go from almost no contact to nothing but good contact and that cannot be easy, though he's made it look it.

Did you see that play by Elvis Andrus? Really smart. Intentionally didn't catch it so that they didn't have Dylan Moore at first.
