The importance of letting Robert Griffin III make changes at the line

this article isnt well written (print errors i suspect ) but it shows on film the o/lines complete breakdowns pre-snap

monty was respnsible for this under shanny as i suspect he didnt trust RG3 with his reads its unclear id Rg3 saw it , ( he might not have ) but he certainly didnt have the power to make adjustments

again this could be that Rg3 wasnt trusted to read defenses but it is odd

He makes a lot of assumptions given the disclaimer at the end of the story which I copied and pasted. Unless you are Peyton Manning the center most often calls out protections. We know for a fact that Robert did not pick up a lot of blitzes and overloads last year. Why because a guy who had just played for the team the year before said so. I believe that is because Griffin is young and inexperienced and missed the off season. We also know the interior line play last year was not good. I agree that Gruden can help Robert. I also think they team has tried to acquire more interior lineman to help the line play.

I don't think Griffin was trusted to read defenses, how can Griffin not see the defender coming towards the line..hasn't that always been the problem with our Oline they don't do a very good job of picking up the blitzes.

A safety can walk up back out or just stay there for run support. Blitzes aren't so obvious a lot of times. Clearly the line had the people to slide in that direction but we have no way of knowing whether the line was zone blocking, what the call was, if there was even an adjustment made. The problem with using one or two plays to illustrate tendencies is not enough to actually show the tendency.

It will be interesting to see how things go this year. New HC, new center, QB that had an off season but same line coach.

Only common factor is the denominator is the line coach. We shall see what happens...

the author said he went through all the sacks on film . i doubt he can put every one of them in that article

he should have put an example of each kind of mistake in there though

i believe the o/line made some mistakes . RG3 missed some pre snap reads and both were out talented on occasion

part of the rift could have been about this lack of "trust " .
