Trainer's Room:
Mets 3B Brett Baty is day to day and no imaging is planned. He tweaked his hamstring lunging for first base while trying to beat out a grounder. “I'm just glad I caught it early,” he said. “I don't think it's much right now.”
After receiving an injection last week, DH J.D. Martinez (lower back tightness) has resumed swinging a bat at the club's complex in Florida. But he's unlikely to make his Mets debut until at least April 26 when the team returns from a West Coast trip, manager Carlos Mendoza and president of baseball operations David Stearns said.
RHP Sean Reid-Foley (shoulder impingement) is scheduled to make back-to-back rehab outings Wednesday and Thursday for Double-A Binghamton. After that, he could be ready to come off the injured list.
Stearns said he thinks RHP Kodai Senga (right shoulder capsule strain) will be back soon after he's eligible to come off the 60-day injured list May 27. RHP Tylor Megill (shoulder strain) was set to throw from 120 feet.

Mets RHP Luis Severino (1-1, 3.00), coming off his first win last Friday against Kansas City will start the Wednesday afternoon series finale.

April 17:
INF Brett Baty (left hamstring tightness) day to day
Baty departed Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Pirates due to left hamstring tightness, which he felt while trying to beat out a groundout in the fifth inning. He does not consider the issue significant, however, and Baty returned to the ballpark on Wednesday feeling better about the situation.
"I think it just scared me," Baty said, noting that he tweaked the same hamstring last year.
The Mets were not concerned enough to order an MRI exam for their starting third baseman, and they do not expect Baty to land on the injured list. He should return to the lineup within a few days.
With the New York Mets recent surge to get over .500 after an 0-5 start, the bullpen has been one of the main reasons why. They have logged the most strikeouts in the National League (87), allowed the second lowest batting average (.209), thrown the fifth most innings (69.2 innings). True, the...
