todays theme - stay the fuck out of the box.

SJ's powerplay so far = 41.7%
Van's penatly kill = 64.3%

looks like Schneider vs Niemi

LET'S GO SHARKS!!!

Back to back games and third game in four days for San Jose. They need to get the lead early if they want the win, I doubt they will have the legs to catch up late.

Bottom lines need to get on the score sheet. The top line can't keep this pace up all season.

Good start. Burrows and Clowe get matching minors before the puck is dropped.

Thornton scores in the ensuing 4 on 4.

1-0 Sharks.

good to see emotion to start the game. could be a fun one.
Hansen came into the fraw and crosschecked the referee in the back? :confused2:

bad to see the brutal coverage on the 4 on 4. Garrison panics with the clearing attempt.
Sharks are always tough if they play with confidence.

/assists on Thornton's goal? OK then.

Good scrap between Clowe and Kassian. I'll give the nod to Clowe but I'm hardly unbiased.

Clowe won that one for sure.
Had the edge at the beginning, kassian battled back to get it close, but Clowe finished it convincingly.
Kassian asked for the fight, and Clowe was kind enough to oblige.

that's not Kassian's job anymore, except in extreme circumstances.
he needs to judge his trade-offs a little better.

gah.. 2 posts now.
looks like one of those days

I'd say that Clowe for Kassian is a pretty good trade off for the Canucks.

Niemi with an amazing save on Burrows at the end of the period.

not too bad. on the surface though, Kassian is a 1st liner, Clowe is 2nd.

and not such a good tradeoff for Kassian personally.
he could lose his 1st line spot while he sits.
