yeah I think so Puck. it will probably average $1.5 which I think is very reasonable for this spot. good to have him for 3 years.

dont think so

deals seem to get done 48 hours prior to arbitration when each party shows the other party their briefs

/also works some time when youre single ;)

Hawks walked away from Campoli when he was awarded $2.5m
that's the only one i can think of that made it to a hearing.

really? didn't think they could do that once arbitration was elected.
thought I heard the $2.5m number somewhere, and it seemed to make sense why they'd walk.

oh well.

Great signing for the Nucks. There were a couple of playoff games where he was arguably their best forward. He's a hard worker who seems to give his all; got some decent skill and speed too.

actually not my bad ... they didnt have a true arbitration hearing ... there was no "mouse riding an elephant" bashing ... the Hawks made their intentions to not re-sign Campoli on July 15

In a bit of a new twist, the Chicago Blackhawks have walked away from restricted free agent Chris Campoli before his arbitration hearing was originally scheduled to take place on Aug. 3.

Because the team and player had both agreed to part ways, they were able to speed the process up, speak with an arbitrator today and allow Campoli to be set free two weeks ahead of time.

As a technicality, Campoli was "awarded" a $2.5-million deal, which Chicago then walked away from. In reality, that outcome was predetermined.

"The decision was made to move the date up to today because Chicago likes Chris and didn't want him to be in a position where he was suddenly an unrestricted free agent in August," Campoli's agent Rich Evans said.

"As long as the NHL and the Players' Association were in agreement, and the player and his agent and the team were in agreement, there was nothing holding us up from doing this and moving the date."

oh good they did the digging for me:
Canucks Re-Sign KB Breakout Player of the Year Jannik Hansen - Orland Kurtenblog

To put it in perspective, Hansen (9G-20A-29PTS) had comparable regular-season numbers to:

-- 27-year-old Sean Bergenheim (14G-15A-29PTS, albeit with a great postseason)
-- 30-year-old Joel Ward (10G-19A-29PTS, ditto on the postseason)
-- 22-year-old Wayne Simmonds (14G-16A-30PTS)

Bergenheim got four years, $11 million out of Florida; Ward got four and $12 mil out of Washington and Simmonds, the only other RFA of the group, got two years and $3.5 out of Philly.

@dtolensky Daniel Tolensky
___________ has avoided arbitration is trending in the NHL. Twenty-five filings & we haven't had a single hearing with just three remaining.
