I think you're dreaming a bit. It's not like you can split games between Virginia Tech (7-2) and USC (6-3), you have to beat both and play @USC. I'd be a bit shocked for them to win one of those games, let alone both, given how they've been playing. I think ND ends up with 4, maybe 5, wins and almost certainly not 6.

80 teams need to make a bowl game. As of now only 46 are bowl eligible. We may not need to get to 6 wins, as pathetic as that may be. With that said, I'd rather win 4 games as opposed to 5 and get an invitation to some scrub bowl game.

I would forfeit the rest of the season if it meant we got rid of Kelly.

I think the "extra practice" canard is over played as a justification for accepting a shitty bowl. Even before the ridiculous proliferation of bowl games, ND, when they actually started going to bowl games regularly again, would decline even lesser bowls. It was go big or go home. Now Kelly touts his bowl record, lets see, Sun Bowl, Champs Sports Bowl, NC game (we know how that went), Pinstripe Bowl, Music City Bowl, Fiesta Bowl (again, got embarrassed). So mostly third tier or worse bowl games, and got blown out of the only two premiere post season games they were involved in. Holtz's teams would have declined almost all of these offerings, except the obvious two.

Besides, what good is extra practice with the instruction they have been receiving anyway.

That's true but you never know... Nebraska had 5 wins last season and beat UCLA in a bowl game.

All three bowl teams with 5 wins last season won their bowl game.

Rewarding Student Athletes for good grades is a brilliant concept and should continue.

Rewarding Athlete Students for r*pe, carrying guns, drugs, punching police, punching women, having strippers, burlary, other felonies, not going to class, not really having to take classes, etc is not a good concept.

It WILL Happen... we will win our final 2/3 games to get to 5/6 wins and get into a bowl game. (5 wins, if there are any left) But we will win against Army, Virginia Tech, and USC. Count on it.
