You know it just occurred to me today that Lebron has never won a championship without Dwayne Wade.

Gotta wonder how having to do so much during the regular season will affect him in the playoffs. Last year, a lot of folks were saying that he had to do too much for the Heat and that it was part of why he struggled some in the playoffs and finals.

He may be setting himself up for another situation like that, especially since he's coming off of 4 straight finals appearances. That's a lot of mileage.

I think he's still the best player in the league, but the gap has narrowed considerably.

I think it's time to remind all of the fans in here that Lebron has zero championships without Wade and Bosh just as they used to remind us that Kobe had none without Shaq.

No need for any reminders that So-and-So has zero championships without So-and-So.

Every single NBA player that led his to team to a championship had at least one (usually more) very significant so-and-so that did it with him.

IMO, there are 3 NBA players that led a team to a championship without having that big-time scottie pippen:

Bill Walton, Dennis Johnson, and Rick Barry.

None of those teams won multiple championships though, and those guys definitely benefited from playing in an era of the league when talent was pretty sparse.


You can throw the 04 Pistons into the argument, but they're pretty unique because there wasn't one or two clear leaders of that team (imo). They were just a very balanced team of very good but not great players that made it happen as a unit. Actually, last years Spurs were a lot like that too, IMO. Duncan is an all-time great, but that was a team thing, not a couple of guys leading the way.
